Hey Barnes, I remove you from the list since you are now coaching little league football at PT and your kid plays for PT 5th grade. Mayfield's 5th beat you (traiter)

TONY BROWN would not only run you over to score a touchdown, He would crack youre helmet on defense. The best players should be on both sides of the ball.

Are you serious? Where CB is now has NOTHING to do with his high school record. Apparently, you're one that couldn't even compare to him on the field. So what if he's coaching little league at PT? He's a great role model for his kids WHEREVER is coaching.

What's up with all of this individual stuff? I think a new topic needs to be started about TEAMS! Which is the best TEAM to play for MHS. That is the way I was taught to think at Mayfield. Maybe that's the problem with Mayfield these days. That is a whole different topic. I say the 95 team.

This thread was started to discuss the great PLAYERS who have thrilled us with their achevements on the field. I respect your opinion, though, and think you should start a new thread about the best all-time teams. And, I would go with the 85/86 team, with the 77/78 team running a close second.

RIP Bill Dunn, he was one of the greats. Late 30's he would have went to Alabama if wasn't for the War. His son Richard Dunn was a very good baseball and basketball player at Lowes High too.

I've been watching Mayfield play football since moving there in 1989. I've seen great players, teams & coaches. It amazes me still that this little town has the respect of other football programs around the state as a football factory. Here are a few names I'll throw out as memorable: Ben Brown, Greg Cook, Trey Barclay, Adam Shelton, Jacob Shelton, Chris Barnes, Chad Haley, Cephaus Tyler, Mikey Bright, Danny Kirby, Gerald Lunsford, Xavier Shelton, the kicking Ivy brothers, Darien & Derrick Parrot, Brent Moore and several I've left off. That being said, the 2010 team was the only team to give me goosebumps when they took to the field for the state championship in Bowling Green this year. That team had everything in every position. Their O-line & D-line seldom got mentioned, but was one of the best I've witnessed at this level. Their stats prove it. The dedication and desire coupled with their morality made this team unstoppable. 15 games with 11 running clocks! I think the "next great thing" will be Jonathon Jackson. The kid is a warrior. Plays at the highest level, even when injured. Good luck to all, thanks for the memories, and looking forward to several more "Best player in Mayfield" future posts.

I was in school when fowler was our qb. He was agreat all around athlete not as good as joe ford but still great.Hes in my top three best players with Marcus at the top. Did yall know David played with the Buffalo Bills he cut his hand on a table saw from what i heard and he never was the same. He was a beast i agree Fowler to Ford passing combination was a killer.

I remember a Moss boy when I played against Mayfield back in '04 that was tough as nails. I believed he played defensive tackle. We lost that game mainly bc of him. we couldnt run anything. I remeber the next game Mayfield plyed was against Danville and they had him at a lbacker. I can't remember his first name maybe u experts can help me

All of these men on here played with heart and gave it their all. They weren't the biggest, but they played like it. Made a city proud and will continue to do so for many years. Some of these men made bad decisions in their high school years, but the important thing as they realized they made a mistake. This post will go on throughout the years, so please remember when you talk negatively about someone, whether it's true or not, remember we were all young once and always looked up to the great ones. Even worse, with those great players some made horrible mistakes off the field and that is THEIR life..I am sure they have learned. So try and refrain from all the negativity, since someone's son may read this someday looking for details of their father's glory days. I am proud of my Mayfield brothers! Go Cards!
