Thanksgiving is approaching fast, that means the Winterfest is right around the corner. Mayfield needs to have a 5k the same day as the Winterfest. I have helped with many 5k's and you can raise a lot of money for your organization with a 5k. We are from Nashville and visit family during this weekend. I would love to participate in a 5k on Thankgiving weekend. Please respond to this post if there is a 5k that weekend. Also, I check wkrc.org frequently, but there aren't many races posted. Please update internet websites for out of town visitors like me. Thank you.

I would be interested in a 5k also. I live in Mayfield and love participating in 5k's. And I agree about wkrc.org . I wish they would update their website more often.

I would love to have a 5K around Thanksgiving also. Usually the YMCA does a run around this time of year. Has anyone heard if they are going to be doing one this year?

Mayfield has a 5k around Halloween. It would be fun to have one the morning of the Christmas parade- perfect for families visiting. I have a feeling it would be packed with runners and walkers. Anyone wanting to raise some money should take on this project. 5k's are very easy to organize. Mayor- this would be a wonderful idea for a hometown festival!

I had another idea after I posted that. It could be called Santa's 5k shuffle. Runners and walkers could wear Santa hats, etc. Could offer hot chocolate. I have all kinds of ideas!! A local church could sing Christmas carols after or during! Mayfield would look like a postcard! Eventually you could add a 10k. There aren't many 10k's around.

What the heck is a 5k and why would you want to have it? Sounds silly. If this is where people gather up and just walk or trot someplace how silly could this be and what is the purpose other than to clog up the areas you're in. Anyone can trot around their house a few times and not cause a problem anywhere else. Explain what this is all about and why it is needed.
