Yes, tasers are a "less lethal option," but I get the feeling that they are used more often than they should be. A gun, yeah, depends where you get shot, how fast you get medical attention. A taser, your entire nervous system gets a jolt or few, involuntary muscle spasams jerk into effect, and all the while a police officer is repeatedly yelling "stop resisting!"
I think it's probably too tempting for the police, sho seldom allow the "less lethal" description to register, and more dangerous to the human body overall than a single [modern] slug. -My opinions are not those of a certified medical practitioner, nor do they reflect the views of KFOR. |

People need to understand that the use of the taser is the use of a weapon; the officer must be justified in use any weapon. I have seen situations in a high school setting where the taser was the prefect weapon to use to prevent major injury to student, teacher and officers. Without the taser, the officer would have been justified to use pepper spay, baton or even deadly force; the taser gave that officer another option. I have been sprayed with pepper spay and tear gas both. I have been shot with taser, Neither one was pleasant, but if I had to go through it again, “tase me bro”

I think that most police officers now days are whimps. Get a life. They are children for god sakes. Tackle them and slap them around a bit and be done with it. YOU WHIMPS!!!!

Debby, you think Tasers should be outlawed?? Thats the dumbest thing I have ever heard. Why would you want tasers because you think an officer "doesn't have the sense of when a situation is drastic" Ok, let's say your son or daughter is in a high school and your child gets into a fight with another child. Lets say the child who got into the fight with your child pulls out a knife. Would you rather have a police officer pull out his/her gun and fire a round into that fight? What if the round hits your child? You're gonna be pissed. A taser can cease the actions that had already orignated. A taser would have saved a life in that situation. Not only that, tasers have a red laser on them and when the officer activates that taser the laser goes on....when you see a red light on you, most of the time(if your smart) your gonna stop doing what you were doing. But your outlawing tasers is straight up stupid. |

We need Tasers to keep the local hoodlums, whether boys or girls, act the way they should. Obviously the local parents aren't doing their jobs.

Having a cop at school is bad, and having a cop at school with any weapon is unbelievably idiotic. What does that teach kids, that the future is a police state? Should they assume that's what's normal?
Why did Edmond put bars around the high schools? I went to Edmond schools, and if I were there now, I'd be hooking up a car and pulling those bad boys out of the ground. I've heard people in medicine claim one person in three has a congenital heart defect that can cause them to have a coronary if they get shocked. Heart attacks have a very small survival rate. I read about Tasers for a few hours, and it wasn't good. Taser intimidates its critics, and as the body count has grown, the company has become more defensive. There have been quality control problems, especially among the premier models. Taser doesn't appear to have performed adequate research into what, if any, electric current is tolerable to humans regarding voltage, wattage, amperage and waveform. In other words, I had little confidence the company has internal assurance that use of its product is safe. But, we're talking about CRIMINALS, right? So it doesn't matter? Before you decide, spend the evening searching YouTube for videos. They have some really great ones. |

So let them take away tasers, then when these undisciplined punks go on a rampage and the only option that the officers have to do is to shoot and kill them, it will be one less punk we have to worry about!
