Have the actions of the Virginia General Assembly shown everyone how little our problems and concerns matter? After weeks of political posturing and pre-election campaigning, our elected legislature decided ...

Tommy, the HRPDC and MPO failed too - they created the region's traffic plan and the 6 major MPO projects that don't really reduce our region's commuter traffic congestion problems or would solve any of our non-highway traffic bottlenecks.

The MPO and the HRPDC did not even include adding lanes to the HRBT. It wasn't until HB 3202 was ruled unconstitutional by the state supreme court that the Penisula members of the General Assembly finally stood up to the MPO and depanded more lane capacity for the HRBT.

Vote most out - Aye.

There's only a few I'd like to keep and attentive folks have their own choices to save. For the rest I say elect the alternative unless ya are willing to research.

Then again, maybe the folks in Richmond have thought about the issue. If they do nothing about the traffic problems, then people will have to accept the status quo or they will change their behavior. Shop locally, move closer to work, take the bus, etc. These changes don't cost the rest of the state more in taxes, and have the added benefit of limiting pollution.

Fine with me. They can all go home and stay home for good. We don't need any more legislation. We need to spend our money on valid projects - VDOT and others. We seriously need a review of all spending in Richmond and start cutting those stupid government programs like funding for the Arts (millions are wasted on this kind of garbage). If you like the Arts, knock yourself out, pay for it yourself. Don't burden the state with your special interests. "Fact finding trips to Europe" - what the hell is that? Knock that stupidity off! Government spending is out of control and until you get a balanced budget - at current tax rates, don't talk to us about any more spending!

Your Libertarian streak is blazing bright, Walther.

Cuts, you say? Alright...the state budget is available online. Go through it and highlight what, where, and how much. Until you offer up concrete ideas, your rants really don't accomplish anything.
