Mingo County and the Matewan Area could be a Nation Treasure and it is. But as long as coal companies rape the land, destroy the water sources. Run off wild life it will be nothing but what it is now, pathetic. Imagine all that the area could bring. A dam to flood out hatfield bottom. The Government buys their land for a good price. And they would be a lake right there in Matewan. Imagine a lake where you could eat the fish, tube behind boats. Play in the water in Matewan. And water turbines to push the weight of all that water through spin and create electricity. Coal is Not needed to keep the lights on. Coal is the past, for your grandchildren please realize this. It could be a National Park, so much history in the area. It's not the area I hate, it's the people and the way the land is being slaughtered day to day by coal companies. Heck I've heard coalminers say make this place as flat as a parking lot as long as I can feed my kids. WTF? How bout having a nice lake you can fish off of and eat all the catch a man could want. How bout getting a job at the new Hydroelectric Plant that could be built. Or one of the hundreds of companies wanting to put their businesses in a National Park for the visitors? How bout Matewan being a vacation spot for people in KY to go to once a year? Think about the possibilities and stop sweating and taking up for big coal who could care less about you or the area as long as their making money.

Think about all the carbon being released into the atmosphere from burning coal. Look at whats going on around you right now. Glaciers are melting, mosquito are taking over. West Nile will now probably be a normal disease for us to worry about here in America. Next will be malaria. Think about someone other than yourselves when you lace up those coal worn boots in the morning. Think about how those kids your working so hard and putting yourself into danger to feed gets cancer from drinking from the tap that you pay for each month. So you inadvertently caused your own child to get cancer. Now how do you feel? Like it wasn't your fault? Or that God wanted to call him home? I think not! It's your fault, denile goes alot of ways. I pray your kids don't get tumors, but By God I read alot of shit and it's becoming an epidemic in your region. And if your buddy's kid gets cancer you should look in the mirror to find the culprit. Then go look at the Rich Mine Owners and ask them to help get your kid cancer free. They'll be like I'm sorry whatever your name is.
