Wanted to share this video of the latest rescue from the Beagle Freedom Project...

"Our Fourth rescue was our biggest ever! On November 23, 2011, We saved 40 beagles from a laboratory in Spain where they had lived their entire lives and flew them to us to Los Angeles, CA. Many had tattoos not just in one ear, but in both, indicating they had come from more than one laboratory. Many of these angels landed with teeth rotten, bleeding and falling out and tumors. Some had to have surgery – many had to have teeth pulled. They are all doing exceptional now and have all gone into their forever homes!"

Watch these dogs when they let them out of the crates...no socialization, years of torture at human hands, they have never experienced being outside. Not used to the noise, kept in isolation in cages, no training or positive human contact, many in pain from rotten teeth and medical procedures. You can see that the males in the video are intact. When the crates are opened, they are obviously scared, but after a few moments, they appear joyful. Tail wagging, allowing strangers to hold and pet them and handle them, totally fine with the other beagles. This video makes me want to cry........ while humane groups spent thousands of dollars subsidizing and promoting pit bull ownership, the plight of lab beagles goes ignored.

Why all the fuss about the Vick dogs, when this is happening to beagles every day? The rescue was done at the end of November 2011, by January 2012 all the beagles were placed in homes. No extensive "rehab" needed! In many ways, these beagles had it much worse than the Vick dogs, many of whom were young dogs that had not been fought. Yet nary a peep of public outcry, and no attention from the humane groups like HSUS. Pit bulls raised in these conditions would be expected to kill someone when let loose, and attack the other dogs. Why don't we expect this from beagles?

Beagle rescue isn't as "sexy" as pit bull rescue...the types of people who adopt lab beagles aren't looking for bragging rights, or to make a statement about beagles as a breed. They don't have anything to prove, and are not out to save the beagles reputation, because it doesn't need saving. These small, friendly hounds don't attract the types of colorful grifters that excel as reality TV stars, so their cause is eclipsed by the manufactured drama of pit bull rescue.

There are many companies in this country which breed beagles and small hound mixes to sell to medical and cosmetic testing labs. While this fact should horrify dog lovers and humane groups, most seem too busy fretting over things like "pit bull discrimination". The fact that the plight of pit bulls is caused ENTIRELY by the people who own, breed, and claim to love pit bulls...the alleged stewards of the breed....seems lost on most pit bull fans. They prefer the drama of imagining that "haters" are somehow causing millions of pit bulls to be bred, neglected, abused, and dumped.

Pit bull attacks are frequently blamed on the fact that the aggressive pit bull was "abused", lived life on a chain outside, was not "socialized", was not "trained". How, then, do we explain these beagles? How can these sweet tempered hounds go from years of isolation and torture straight into adoptive homes with so little fuss? How on earth can that woman in the video be so fearless as to cuddle and kiss that poor, terrified beagle, right on his face? Shouldn't she expect to get bitten?

Or is it possible that the sweet disposition of these beagles is genetic?

A man in Lindenhurst - who said he was attacked by a pit bull - is blaming Babylon Town officials for not doing anything about the dog despite its aggressive past.

That's according to a recent report on News12.com .

Robert Favuzzi says he went to a friend's house for bible study in August, the report said, and as he got out of his car, he was attacked by a white-and-brown pit bull.

The said report the dog charged at him from the house next door. According to the report, it bit Favuzzi in the hand, breaking two of his fingers.

Favuzzi says "a miracle" prevented the dog from injuring him further: a rope around its neck got caught on Favuzzi's car tire, the report said.

He took the dog's owner, James Foster, to court for damages, where he discovered he's the third person to be bitten by the same dog, according to the report.

In the same report, Favuzzi's lawyer says the Town of Babylon should've at least informed neighbors of the dog attacks

2012 Dog Bite Fatality: Domestic Dispute Call Ends in Fatal Dog Mauling of Baby

Father's Pit Bull
09/25/12: The Star-Telegram has updated its earlier article. The newspaper now reports that 3-month old Rayden Bruce had been asleep on a bed inside the home when he was mauled by his father's pit bull. Burleson police officers were present at the home in connection with a domestic dispute between the baby's parents when the mauling took place. Officers administered emergency aid to the baby boy until paramedics arrived. The infant did not survive his injuries.

Officers responded to the area after a 911 hang-up call was received from a cell phone at 6:48 pm. Officers were searching for the source of the call when they found the family disturbance at the home on Linda. Officers separated the couple, documented reported injuries and checked the welfare of the baby, which at that time was fine. Two officers were still on the scene an hour later taking statements from witnesses outside the house when the mauling occurred.

Burleson Animal Control officers euthanized the animal Tuesday.

09/25/12: Child Killed by Dog
Burleson, TX - In a developing story, newspapers confirm reports of a suspected fatal dog attack that began circulating last night in social media channels. Police were called to a domestic disturbance on Linda Drive at 6:45 pm. While family members were speaking with police officers, someone sat the baby down and the family dog attacked. The child was taken to Cook Children's Hospital. The Tarrant County Medical Examiner confirmed the baby's death Tuesday morning.

The child has been identified as 3-month-old Rayden Bruce

2012 Dog Bite Fatality: Domestic Dispute Call Ends in Fatal Dog Mauling of Baby
Mother Feared Dog
09/26/12: The CBS DFW video posted yesterday briefly interviewed neighbor Jessica Hale who has young children of her own. Parts of Hale's statement are also quoted in a WFAA news report. Quite literally -- just minutes before the deadly attack -- the baby's mother Jessica Oxner had been speaking with Hale, expressing concern to her about the baby being in the house with the dog:
[CBS] Police were at the house investigating a domestic disturbance when witnesses say the child's mother began screaming for help.
"Someone call 911! My baby is not breathing, my baby is not breathing. So I just called 911, but at that time the ambulances were already coming down the street."
[CBS] Neighbor Jessica Hale says the baby's mother was concerned about the presence of not one but two pit bulls in the father's home.
She said her main concern was the dog, and the baby being in the house with the dog. Then -- not minutes later -- he came running out with the baby," Hale said.
09/25/12: Baby's Parents Named
FoxNews.com reports the baby's father, Barnett Bruce, began arguing with the baby's mother, Jessica Oxford, just after Oxford brought the child over for a visit. While the two parents argued, the baby's grandfather was holding him. Someone called police after the argument escalated into pushing. Arriving officers separated the two parents -- one officer taking a statement from the father inside the home and the other taking a statement from the mother outside.
During the hour-long period of police questioning the parents and witnesses, the baby fell asleep in the grandfather's arms. He took the baby into the home and placed it on a bed and came back to talk to his son (who was likely still inside the home). Not long after, the grandfather heard noises from the bedroom and went to investigate. This is when he discovered the pit bull had attacked the baby. The baby's father grabbed the child and ran outside alerting police.
NBC 5 Dallas reports the unaltered male pit bull responsible for the deadly attack was one of two pit bulls in the father's home. The Star-Telegram reported earlier today that Kim Peckler, supervisor of Burleson's Animal Services, said the same pit bull had previously been involved in a minor biting incident in 2011. The dog was quarantined then returned to its owner, Barnett Bruce. Peckler added that the dog had also been picked up by animal services in 2010 for being at-large.

2012 Dog Bite Fatality: Oklahoma Woman Killed by Pit Bull in Her Home

Husband Mourns
UPDATE 09/27/12: KFOR.com reports that Nellie Davis recently moved in with her granddaughter after undergoing a heart transplant and long-term illness. Neighbor Kenny Reeves said the two pit bulls kept in the apartment had a history of violence. "I can tell you it's not uncommon, issues with the dogs. The cops had been called before for the dogs fighting," Reeves said. "A week ago the dogs were fighting," April Reeves added. "You could hear people yelling at 'em."

The victim's husband, Cleveland Davis, Sr., told reporters that he hopes his wife of over 30-years is remembered for more than how she died. "I really want everyone to know she was a strong lady and a proud lady," Cleveland said. "She never complained although she went through so much." Police Captain Dexter Nelson described the scene as "gruesome" and that the victim "died a horrific death." Homicide detectives continue to investigate the woman's death.

09/27/12: Attack Blamed on Thunder
The San Francisco Chronicle offers more details, including that the residence was an apartment; the victim lived with her granddaughter who owned two large pit bulls; one of the pit bulls broke out of its crate and attacked; police shot that dog because it was threatening emergency responders; and last but not least, police Captain Dexter Nelson is blaming the fatal attack on stormy weather, as was done after Deborah Roberts was killed by her pet pit bulls earlier this month.

This particular dog had problems with thunderstorms and lightning and that type of thing, so the dog became quite unstable and upset.- Dexter Nelson
Explosive Aggression

After 85-year old Mattie Daughtery was relentlessly attacked and killed by her daughter's pet pit bull, the family blamed the attack on "noise" from construction work being done on the house.1 After 56-year old Johnny Wilson was mauled to death by his daughter's six pit bulls, the daughter blamed the attack on his "loud" voice. Instead, what these fatal pit bull attacks represent over and over again is the unpredictable explosive aggression consistently carried out by pit bulls.

Pit bulls -- The Living IED: Designed for death, awaiting detonation.2
09/27/12: Woman Killed by Pit Bull
Oklahoma City, OK - In a developing story, Oklahoma City Police say a woman was attacked and killed by a pit bull in her home last night. Police received a 911 call just after 11 pm on Wednesday from a woman who said she found her grandmother, 60-year old Nellie Davis, dead in the home and the pit bull out of its crate. Responding officers tried to contain the pit bull, but were unsuccessful. An officer was forced to shoot the dog to death after it continued to act aggressively

ANOTHER SAVAGE MAULING THIS MONTH

Animal Control officers say this pit bull mix attacked an elderly woman Tuesday evening, causing severe injuries to her head and face. The dog was seized, along with another dog at the home, and is being held at the Cleveland County Animal Control Shelter.
Rebecca Clark/Halifax Media Group
By Rebecca Clark / rclark@shelbystar.com

Published: Wednesday, September 26, 2012 at 22:42 PM.

A 73-year-old woman is fighting for her life after a dog mauled her Tuesday evening, leaving deep wounds to her head and face.
Cleveland Regional Medical Center listed Patrece Ogle as being in critical condition Wednesday afternoon.
Ogle’s home on Toney Road near Lawndale was quiet and still a day after the attack.
A rebel flag fluttered in one window, and on the front porch, dime-sized drops of blood were dried on the gray floorboards.
But Tuesday evening, the house was the scene of chaos after animal control officers say a pit bull mix attacked Ogle, leaving her face bloodied and her features nearly unrecognizable.

‘It didn’t show
any aggression’
The attack came just hours after animal control officers were called out to the house for the same dog.
Animal Control Supervisor Tripp Bowling said a sheriff’s office deputy called animal control about 6:45 a.m. and said the pit bull mix had jumped on Ogle and knocked her down.
Bowling said the woman wasn’t injured or bitten and told the animal control officer that she didn’t want the dog taken away.
Both Ogle and her daughter-in-law, Lisa Ogle, who is listed as the owner of the dog and also lives at the house, were adamant that the animal stay, Bowling said.
The officer who responded to the call advised the women to take the pit bull mix to the vet for rabies vaccines and to get treatment for what appeared to be mange, the incident report stated.
Bowling said other than the skin condition, both the pit bull and another dog at the home, a hound mix, appeared healthy and well-fed.
“The dog was very friendly,” Bowling said.“It didn’t show any aggression.”
The officer left.

‘All I seen was blood’
At 5:15 p.m., animal control again got a call, this time from Emergency Medical Services.
One of the dogs attacked Patrece Ogle, leaving bites and gashes on her head and face. Animal control officers believe it was the pit bull that attacked her.
“It’s probably one of the worst dog bites I’ve ever seen,” Bowling said.
Lisa Ogle has owned the pit bull since it was a puppy, Bowling said, adding he doesn’t know what provoked the attack.
Kimberly Reynolds, who lives in a mobile home behind the Ogle house, said she saw ambulances and police cars fill the driveway Tuesday evening.
She saw the victim of the dog attack being loaded into the ambulance.
“Blood,” she said.“All I seen was blood. I couldn’t sleep at all.”
Reynolds said she knew animal control officers were at the home earlier in the day, but the owners didn’t want the dog taken.
“That dog tore her face off,” she said.
“I’ve got her on a prayer list and I’m hoping and praying she’ll be OK,” said Patricia Holloway, Reynolds’ mother.

Dogs seized from home
According to the animal control report, while EMS personnel were treating Patrece, her daughter-in-law began having seizures.
Both women were taken by ambulance.
Bowling said, when officers arrived at the home, the pit bull and hound were locked in a bedroom and were acting “highly aggressive.”
Both dogs were seized and are being held at the animal control shelter.
Bowling said the dogs will be quarantined to make sure neither has rabies and will most likely be declared dangerous.
Bowling said if the dogs are declared dangerous and the owners wish to keep the animals, they will have to meet several requirements. If the owners do not wish to keep the dogs, they will be relinquished to animal control.

HERE'S A TYPICAL PITNUTTER COMMENT AND EVEN MORE TYPICAL SHREDDING OF ALL THAT HE SAYS BY ANTI PIT PEOPLE SEE IGNORANT PITNUTTERS AREN'T ONLY ON HERE IT WILL TAKE 2 POSTS FOR ALL OF IT

AnonymousSeptember 13, 2012 3:14 PM
Did you know more people are bitten by house cats than by dogs every year? Nine times out of ten these dog bite statistics come from 'resident dogs' ie: dogs on a chain outside, 24/7 un loved, un socialized, not cared for properly so they defend them selves against a perceived threat.
You hate all 'Pitt bulls'? Well a pit bull is not a breed yet you keep stating it as such. It's a fact that larger dogs have larger mouths therefore have a larger more intense bite. Would you call the animal control if you were bitten by a 8 lb dog? Probably not because they don't cause as much harm. These stories you posted are labeling them pit bulls but are mostly mixed breed dogs therefore you cannot name them as such.
You hate 'pit bulls'? What about the micheal Vick dogs? Only one was named human aggressive. The rest are in sanctuaries or in foster care or with LOVING FAMILIES WHO TREAT THEM WELL. What about Hector the pit bull? He's a CGC, TDI rally obediance dog who never showed any fear or aggression at all. Or Handsome Dan? He's a shy dog who lives with a toddler, is a foster brother to many dogs who come in & out of there home. Both trained with POSITIVE reinforcement!!! Or Two Pitties in the City pittiesinthecity.blogspot.com they are also loving dogs whom live in loving homes with people who LOVE THEM! Of Corbin ohcorbin.blogspot.com , also a foster brother to many pit bull type dogs & living in the lap of luxury with loving parents.
I'm not saying that bully breeds can't be aggressive but our know what? So can Labradors, golden retrievers, or even a pug. Herding dogs are more likely to bite children due to there hyper active breeds. What about the hundreds of pit bull type dogs who have not bitten people?
Parents need to take some responsibility & teach their children about how to properly interact with dogs. Knowing signs of a scared, fearful aggressive behavior is what you can do to protect your child & dog. You get out of your dog what you put into them. I have rescued 'pit bulls' by the side of the road do you know what they did to me? Gave me a kiss. Check out Bad rap or pit proud the movie if you dont believe me. Hector & Handsome Dan are also on Facebook. You need to know dogs need to be treated as part of the family & work with them if they show aggressive tendencies.

Kudos for keeping this updated.

And to "Cat Bit Fever" above, two things.

One, cats rarely kill or maul, and apparently you can't read so you missed the point where the pits are killing their owners.

Two, you need to learn a bit more about pit bull behavior. They LOVE to attack, they wag their little wiggle butts all through the attacks. The often give NO CLUE they are about to attack. Savvy animal control people call them "psychopaths" because they lie with their body language, one saying "he wagged his tail, gave me a little play bow, then lunged at my face".

The most oft repeated quote by pit bull owners after their dog attacks, mauls, kills someone is "it never was aggressive before".

What more evidence do you want that "love and kindness" don't always win out? These people, much like you, loved their dogs and treated them well and BAM, outta the blue the got a mauling on their hands.

Hate? I don't hate pit bulls, I hate morons. To me pit bulls are a wretched annoyance that should be contained and if not contained, eliminated from the face of the earth.

"It's the owner" and the "Hater" are lazy arguments.

If they took and put ten percent of the effort they put into lying into breeding and selling a safer Pit Bull, lists like this one wouldn't be necessary.

Two more owners killed in the past month...Oh well, hose the blood off the carpet and pump out another litter!

Anon stated...
"Well a pit bull is not a breed yet you keep stating it as such."

I will drop all my current projects and get that information to the UKC and the AKC. Please note that the AKC American Staffordshire Terrier can be double registered as a UKC American Pit Bull Terrier. If the dogs can be double registered, they are the same thing, examples of the pit bull breed and also the pit bull type.

If you read the post before you rushed to make a mindless comment, doesn't it get your attention to read about all those pit bull parents who were mauled to death by their own pit bulls? What makes you different from them?

You have made generalizations about Goldens, Pugs, Labs, herding dogs, house cats, and children but generalizations about pit bulls are not acceptable to you.

You suggested consulting with BADRAP for information on pit bulls. How much value could that information have? BADRAP was unable to educate one of their own members, Darla Napora. Mrs. Napora was killed inside her own home by a pit bull that she had raised from a puppy, a dog that she loved. Are you sure that you are very different than Napora? Are you willing to bet your life on it?

this list is likely enough proof for any normal person who appreciates normal dogs to avoid to avoid owning a pitbull like one should do all they can do in an effort to avoid getting a venereal disease...sadly though, some don't wear condoms, others decide to own a pit anyways. Thank goodness though most venereal diseases have good strong doses of medicine to cure it, pit loving though has it seems no cure

Daily Horoscope for May 23

Scorpio

You're in a very romantic and sentimental state today. You're also feeling quite sensitive and vulnerable, so you won't want to be around anyone you find abrasive or aggressive. If you meet someone for the first time now you'll think they're wonderful and your relationship will always involve putting them on a pedestal. But don't be too idealistic. They are human, remember!
