I think you are sad. The reason people complain is because the USA was formed out of war against these things. People you never heard of DIED in the Revolution, the CIvil War, WWI and WWII so that you can have liberty that makes our country stronger and better than any other in the world, and not by military force. I suppose if this were the 1940s and the Nazis invaded you'd be goose stepping down the street along with the SS.

Sounds like a cop must've stolen your girlfriend or confiscated your favorite bong. Nothing you say makes sense. Let's say you drive one of the most expensive VW's, a brand new Passat TDI. That'll run you around mid $40k. Most cops I know around here drive brand new Silverados--probably mid $30k. So, yeah, they can afford your lame foreign car. And you call yourself a hard working blue collar guy? I don't know any self-respecting blue collar worker who would DARE drive a VW around his buddies!

If he smelled marijuana, he has probably cause and he doesn't need your permission to search. He also doesn't need a warrant since you are in a vehicle and could conceivably drive away with the evidence while waiting for a warrant. Just because he didn't find any drugs doesn't mean that the search was illegal. And I highly doubt he said he could hold you for four hours, which would've been illegal.

The cop didn't get removed for 3 months. The maximum he could have been suspended for is one month, so you are a complete liar. Even if he broke your car (which I doubt) he could not be disciplined for it unless he did it on purpose. Let's say he did do it on purpose; if he was disciplined for it the feds couldn't tell you about it or they could be sued by the guy. I'm sure it makes you feel good when you spout lies like this to the fools on these boards, but it makes you look like an idiot to people who apply logic and Google searches to your 'facts'.

If you don't like the roadblocks, talk to your congressman and ask them to pass legislation outlawing them. They are legal. They've been tested in court. There are supreme court cases validating their legality. You don't have to like it, but these are facts. When you make up lies and fabricate stories it doesn't do anything for your cause.

Reasonable suspicion means that a reasonable law enforcement officer would view your actions in the totality of the circumstances and be suspicious that some form of illegal activity is afoot. Notice, it's not 'reasonable citizen' but 'reasonable law enforcement officer'. A cop can draw on his past experience and knowledge, current criminal trends, law enforcement bulletins, intelligence reports, snitches, and all sorts of other avenues of information that would not be available to the average citizen. The situation may not seem suspicious to you, but that is irrelevant.

Our gov't is based on the consent of the people, we accomplish that through elections. The people we elect make the laws, we don't like the laws we can elect someone else. It is called the social contract. We agree to limit some freedoms to live in as safe a society as possible within the limits we agree on. Where those limits are and where the people agree to have them depends on who we elect. Ex.-we have freedom of speech, but it is not absolute freedom of speech. There are laws to limit some speech such as hate speech, or speech that incites a riot, or the old standby of yelling fire in a crowded movie theater when there isn't and people get hurt in the scramble to get out.

And to compare this to the nazis is a joke. that is one huge leap from anything you have seen in this country. I do agree that he people should always be watching for government going beyond their existing power and then decide to either elect someone else or take it to the courts or not. That is how the people can be involved.

what you have to worry about is what is referred to as mission creep in the military.where a commander slowly and usually unnoticed expands the boundaries of his ordered objective,thereby involving more soldiers.the same thing goes for law enforcement they have gradually eroded our rights by saying they need to in order to protect us from crime,then they say just a little more over and over.i no way wish to protect the rights of criminals,i want their rights protected to protect mine.what police do today to criminals they will do tomorrow to me.just look at how NYC. has abused stop and frisk laws,the vast majority stopped are non whites if this isn't racial profiling i don't know what is.whites commit crimes at the same rate as non-whites but are stopped nowhere near the amount of times non-whites are.this fact alone proves that you always have to be alert for law enforcement abuses.

True usa...my boyfriend was doing nothing but driving home from working 12 hours and doesn't drink much and never does drugs got approached by the border patrol and the big Shepard they had jumped on the side of our new truck and put sends and scratches on it.we think he smelt our dog that rode in it before.well anyway they never even said they were sorry just told him to go ahead.when he got home he saw the dents the dog made when he jumped on it!!
