ANOTHER NANNY DOG Violet Serenity Haaker 3-years old | Ocala, FL Violet Haaker, 3-years old, was killed by her mother's prize breeding dog, a Scott type American bulldog (a pit bull-mix ]. The mother, Lori Haaker, kept four American bulldogs chained to separate trees inside of a pen. The little girl slipped into the pen when Lori briefly stepped into the house. Violet became entangled in the dog's chain and was bitten to death. The property, demarked by signage reading "Haaker's Dream Bulldog Ranch," was anything but a dream when emergency personnel arrived in hopes of saving the child. Officials described the scene as "a bad dog attack." Violet was pronounced dead on the scene. Authorities seized all four dogs and later euthanized them. The Department of Child and Family Services is currently investigating Violet's parents. In 2007, Marion County officials had investigated the Haaker's for operating an illegal kennel. At that time, "mysteriously" no dogs were found on the property

ANOTHER NANNY DOG Nathan Aguirre 2-years old | San Bernardino, CA Nathan Aguirre, 2-years old, was fatally mauled by the family's pit bull. At the time of the incident, the boy had been riding his tricycle and playing with his father in the family's fenced-in yard. When his father stepped away briefly, the mother, who was in the house, came out to check on the child. She found the boy in the pit bull's mouth. The mother screamed and the dog dropped the injured child. Nathan was rushed to Loma Linda University Medical Center and underwent immediate surgery. He was pronounced dead about 6 hours later. The one-and-a-half-year old male pit bull, who had been with the family for about 3-months, was seized along with another family pit bull that was not involved in the attack. While on the scene, reporters noted that a sticker for Atomic Dogg, a magazine for pit bull aficionados, was pasted on the family's front window

'Violent' pit bull attack leaves boy, 9, scarred By Trevor Jones, Berkshire Eagle Staffberkshireeagle.com Posted: 06/13/2012 12:04:03 AM EDT Wednesday June 13, 2012 PITTSFIELD -- A 9-year-old boy is recovering from multiple injuries he suffered Monday night when he was attacked by at least two of his neighbor’s pit bulls. Perrin Petell and his mother, Jessyca Petell, 29, were walking into the rear entrance of a multi-family home at Edward and Malcolm avenues about 9:30 p.m. when they came upon the dogs in a common hallway, according to police and the boy’s mother. Petell said when her son opened the door, the dogs burst out, dragging him down the steps and continuing a "violent, relentless and ruthless" attack that has left her child hurt physically and psychologically. "He just kept screaming and crying,‘Mommy, Mommy, help me. They’re hurting me,’ " said Petell. "It was just really awful." Two of the three dogs were involved in the attack, according to police. But Petell said all three were involved. Perrin was transported to Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield, where he was treated for lacerations to his head, arms and face. He was released early Tuesday. The boy’s father, Anthony Petell, 29, of Pittsfield, said his son received 35 puncture wounds from the dogs’ teeth and nails, and a 3 inch-by-3 inch section of his scalp was torn off. "It’s horrible that this kind of stuff actually happens," Anthony Petell said. "My son was viciously attacked." All three dogs have been quarantined at a shelter pending an investigation by animal control officers. The dogs’ owners, Lori Rohde and Adam Pollack, both 42, could be fined, police said. In 2007, Pollack was charged with multiple felony counts in connection with a domestic assault that allegedly ended when he was attacked by his pit bull. It’s unclear if that dog was involved in Monday’s attack. The Eagle tried to contact Pollack and Rohde at their residence, but neither was available. Jessyca Petell, who was preparing to move out of the apartment later this month, said she will never go back there again

Even if pit bulls were responsible for all of them, the numbers are infinitesimal. It is a horrible thing for anyone to go through and I do feel sorry for them, but have some perspective. If we get rid of everything that causes deaths at a higher rate than that what will we have left? Each year there are 6,000,000 car accident causing 40,000 fatalities (on average). EEN WHEN THE FRANKENMAULER SAVAGELY ATTACKS A FAMILY MEMBER THE PITNUTTERS EXTOL THE VIRTUES OF THE DOG THIS PROVES THAT THEY DON'T NEED TO SHOW AGGRESSION PREVIOUSLY TO BE AN EXTREME DANGER THIS PITNUTTER FEELS MORE SORRY FOR HIS PITBULL THAN HE DOES HIS OWN DAUGHTER - IT'S UNBLIEVEABLE HOW CALLOUS AND UNCARING PITNUTTERS ARE AS A WHOLE Tuesday, November 25, 2008 share Pit Bull-Mix Owner 'Surprised' by Sudden Attack Pit Bull-Mix Attacks 6-Year Old Madras, OR - Oregon area pit bull attacks continue to fill the DogsBite Blog. Two weeks ago, in Madras (120 miles from Portland), 6-year old Jolyssa was "suddenly" attacked by the family pit bull-mix. Detective Tanner Stanfill of the Madras Police Department said, "[The attack] was severe enough to cause numerous stitches the child needed to put her face back together." The dog named Ryder latched onto her left cheek, nearly ripping it off. From left: Jolyssa, Brandon Grob, Ryder (pit bull boxer-mix). The 9-month old dog is a pit bull boxer-mix. The dog's owner, Brandon Grob, says his dog is not violent. He told reporters, "I can't get him to bite me when we play." On November 12th, Grob says the family was folding laundry on the bed, when something happened. "It was just sudden," Grob said. "All of a sudden she screamed, and I looked over and she had her face in the blankets." Grob did not know how bad it was until the blankets were lifted. The "unpredictable aggression" of pit bulls is well documented. The evidence was used to uphold the Denver and Ontario pit bull bans. The victim's family rushed her to Mountain View Hospital in Madras. Doctors there sent her to St. Charles Medical Center-Bend for treatment. Here she underwent surgery, and had 57 stitches. Currently, Jolyssa is doing well and has returned to school. After the attack, Ryder was taken to Jefferson County Dog Control, where he's been quarantined for 10 days, following the county's standard policy. Grob was later cited for having a "nuisance canine." As the countdown to Ryder's euthanization grows near, Grob appears to be heartbroken. He tearfully tells reporters, "It sucks, because I can't go see my dog. I can't go see him or anything because he's considered a 'Level 3' danger to the neighborhood." The family says Ryder isn't a biter, isn't aggressive, and is a family pet. But now that the dog has severely bitten Jolyssa, police and the Jefferson County Dog Control do not want to return the dog to the family. Renee Davidson, a Jefferson County dog control officer, said, "He's fine one minute, not fine the next. He growls and barks, tries to bite at people." The dog's owner had five days to file an appeal to try and get Ryder back, but his time ran out Monday. Grob says it's too costly and time-consuming to appeal the decision, with the deadline at hand, and the family likely wouldn't feel comfortable with Ryder back in the house, anyway (imagine that). Common sense and a sincere concern for the child's welfare appear to be lacking in this tragedy. Fortunately, Ryder is set to be put down today

I picked up a dog today she was in the shelter in the small town I live in. She is afraid of my husband cause some guy beat her. I know her story well it's one I've heard many times before. I have rescued several dogs and taught my kids to do the same. My 10 yr old lab has tumor all over his body and I soon will have to put him down as a puppy he chewed thru a window unit a/c cord and the people beat him with it. I got him shortly after he has lived a wonderful life he was 9 weeks old when I got him. the poem made me cry cause the last dog I rescued before today was left in a box by train tracks with a note that read born Dec26 2011 no shots. she is One now and has her shots and all my animals are microchipped and fixed. Please help these animals
