Don't trust any of the contractors around here,in the winter they make their money by smuggling.Best call home depot or try to do it yourself.
Not unless you don't mind a smuggler in your home.Me I'd rather goole it and figure it out myself.
your an idiot and herrrres yur sign. If youve been taking by a local then you probably didnt go about it correctly. first make contact with said contractor, then see if he shows on time , misses timeframe theres a strike. you get a bad vibe during the meeting stop and look elsewhere. guy does the estimate ask when you will hear from him for the price and if the price is good when will the work start? when will it be complete? now heres the tricky part prior to starting work meet once more and get it all down on paper! hicups will happen and slow progress it is neither the subs fault nor the customer thats whats called an unforeseen. when and if this happens see how long the delay is and document it. theres alot of good contractors out here but part of all this is to be involved with the process.and I surely dont believe all contractors smuggler during the off season.

I am not a mome, dunce as you say I am but you seem to be. The first thing I would ask if he is licensed and insured. Then I would ask for references if he doesn't have any then that's my sign !

sorry I just figured if he was a good contractor he would have already showed you the ins. when he arrived. as for being licensed? Ive been around 20yrs and never been licensed so that in itself is useless information. I dont need a paper to tell me I know howto do my job. As for references its a small town here believe me if he sucked you would have already known this before you contacted him, good luck

Its not that you must be licensed, It is that you must be registered with the county clerks office. And in order to obtain a building permit, through the code enforcement office the contractor must be registered and have a copy of their insurance certificate on file there. So if you have any questions about contractors I am sure that a stroll down to the code enforcement office you will have all of your questions answered with the truth! Plain and simple.

I am actually an area contractor with a good reputation, thats how I know all of that, but refuse to put my name on here for obvious reasons. :-) If you go to the contractors desk at Home Depot and talk to Gary or Scott I am sure they can help you out.

Don't hire Rob Ashlaw's so called company name V&R Construction and painting. Named after his woman Valerie Smith McGrath and Robert Ashlaw. Rob is hot headed and couldn't build a dog house to code or without an argument with the person that he's working for. He did some work for me but didn't actually do much of anything, he hired a bunch of local welfare bums to do it all while he made all the money. When they said they were done and didn't bother to show up to actually finish they didn't do what they said they would for the money I paid them let alone build it anywhere near code. I had to hire another contractor to finish it and fix all the problems I had. They did some work at the Parishville Museum too, then the porch separated from the building in a year. They called him back, but he denied it was his excellent building skills that caused it. What an arrogant idiot he is.

looking for a good contractor in the Massena area. Someone that is experience and reliable.
the few I had found aren't that reliable. they say they will be there and turns out it's a no show. or it will take them 3 weeks just to do a job that normally would taken 3 hours.
any Recommendations for a good contractor is appreciated. thanks
if your still looking...bill houle is an honest minister and missionary and does an amazing job.

Now, I'm sure this post is going to bring on a ton of negative comments, but we hired Adirondack Construction and Renovations to do our last three projects and were completely happy with the results. These were not just little jobs either, but large projects. Price was reasonable, work was completed on time, and done to code. Had it inspected by code officer and he said it was a good job well done. Believe it or not..there ARE really good reliable smaller contractors out there, and yes, there are going to be some people who are never satisfied no matter how well done the job is, but I am not one of them. Remember..no one is perfect..and nothing is ever 100%, so be reasonable people!!!

Get estimates, check references, post here asking if anyone used them. Don't go for cheapest if your gut tells you that they seem shady. Start with one small part of the project and let them know there may be more down the line so you can stop using them if you don't like the work done.
just dont use d and d controction they will rip you off they charge way to much and they over order on the material

Daily Horoscope for May 24

Capricorn

If you need to get someone organized, this is the day to do it. You'll sort things out without sounding bossy or patronizing, and you'll also get co-operation instead of resistance. It's a good day for having a serious chat with a child, perhaps because you need to explain something and want to make sure you do it properly, in a way that doesn't create confusion or fear.
