At least the drug dealer down the street charges you less....and they aren't pretending to "help" you either.
When you see the drug dealers walk into your dr's office, carrying their briefcase of samples and vouchers for free spa treatments in an attempt to woo your doctor into giving you their drugs, you know you are in the wrong place.
My doctor prescribed me 4 drugs that were unnecessary. The cost to my insurance (Medicare) would have been over $2000 a month. She even gave me a RX for gout medicine for my back injury....WTF?? A nurse friend told me my doctor was just unloading drugs on me, they get money and other things (kick backs) for doing so. Also my new doctor who is less open to drug dealers told me the medicines she attempted to give me were not pertinent to my condition.
Luckily I don't take ANY doctor's word, I research the medicines first. Just because you get a prescription doesn't mean you have to fill it- some of these unnecessary drugs cost medicaid/medicare thousands of dollars. If we could hold doctors accountable for going willy nilly on their RX pads maybe we could save Medicare.

I work in a dr office and I can tell you for a fact that they don't receive kick back whatsoever!! Most of the samples we receive are maintanace drugs bp cholesterol asthma thyroid and so on and the dr I work for supplies people for months of these drugs so they can take care of them selves. They don't supply pain Meds that wud be narcotics.. They certainly don't receive spa or vacation coupons lol you are correct you don't have to take the Meds a
Dr prescribes for you that is your choice! But I guess my question to you wud be .. Why go to a Dr if you don't trust them

Because whom ever is complaining is just mad because their primary md cut them off their percocet or vicodin? When an md uses reps meds it is because research has proven the med effective. If you don't want to take a med then don't it is your choice.

if you have a problem with getting prescriptions to treat, then dont go to the doctors. simple as that. yes, maybe they tend to prescribe too much, but dont go to the doctors for every little ailment and you wont have to deal with that! come on people.

Really maybe you should not go to a Board Certified Doctor what a terrible statement. You need mental health.

I definitely agree with this, not all doctors are like that but many are- the drug rep leaves and all of a sudden you get a prescription for every little thing you mention to the doctor.
Thing with doctors is that they have become a business first and a service second. They are stuck in the bubble that is the medical community and that is all they know. Anyone from outside the medical community with an educated opinion is an annoyance and instantly dismissed. They only take info from the medical establishment which doesn't always want the truth to get out, especially if it rocks the boat. Just like when your grandmother goes to get her car repaired. The auto mechanics aren't about to listen to an old lady, they will do things they only way they know how and usually try to rip you off in the process.
The trick is to find a doctor with an open mind who isn't already bought and sold by drug companies.
Also it is surprising and a bit disconcerting about how many so called medical professionals are on this site.

why is it disconcerting? Don't you feel that the medical profession has a right to explain their side? From the view of an MD , nurse, or any medical professional? You want answers or a discussion but yet won't listen to answers that are given. Most MD will listen if you tell them what you want. Feel free to question the medications given. I have also seen the reverse when the Dr. I work for doesn't give Meds but recommends diet, and to get out and walk, or won't write an antibiotic for a virus they get called a quack. Sad part is the medical profession gets criticized whatever they do. There are bad apples in every profession, but most of them are very hard working caring people.

You are so full of it that you can't even name a doc that gives out pills because there aren't any in massena. If they do give narcotics you have to sign a contract.

What about the people who actually need these meds? They can't get them in NY state because of these ridiculous laws. So how do we help them? Apparently our state officials don't really care about that issue. If you want scripts to abuse them, you don't need to go to the doctor, just ask a friend, a neighbor, your kid, hell your dog probably knows if you don't. NY needs relax on this issue so that people in pain can get relief!

Daily Horoscope for May 20

Taurus

If a friend has been bugging you recently, you are likely to have a few sharp words with them today. However, least said soonest mended, so don't labour the point or turn them against you. Besides, you have better things to do with your time now, such as taking part in a big gathering of likeminded people or having a long chat with one special person.
