Your name stays on the list for 25 years not five so the 15 year old boy who had sex with his 15 year old girl friend is on the list until he is 40. If it happened this year in 2031 he will still be required (in Michigan) to report to the police every 3 months, he'll be on the list, and so on.

Kids are convicted of csc all the time they are not "wrongly accused" they probably didn't know that their 15 year old girlfriend was off limits. I'm just saying that the list you are all talking about is NOT a pedofile list. It is a list of anyone with a sexual offense that may or may not have anything to do with being a pedophile. So the list becomes useless. If you want to track pedophiles that is cool with me but I see no reason for a kid convicted of having consenual sex with his girfriend (the girl is almost never charged though technically they are also guilty of csc because the boy was also under age)needs to be on these lists for 25 years.

I dont think you ever looked at the list as it is listed whether they are or are not a pedophile.
Their name is never taken off if they are a pedophile but for something like the 15 yr old which is too young to even be registered in public as a sex offender, he could have had his name removed if the charge is minor. IT WILL GIVE HIM TIME TO SMARTEN UP.

I believe that everyone should be warned when there is a sex offender in the neighberhood. I am the mother of 3 girls and God help the man that would touch them. For I am the survivor of 3 attacks all took place at seperate times and all by different men and none of the men were ever caught nor punished so for all i know they still could be out there doing the same thing to women or even little girls and that bothers the hell out of me.

I think all of these people that are feeling sorry for these so called inocent guys going to jail, need a reality check for the most part. They obviously put themselves in a situation that they should not have been in and now they are to pay the consequences. I want to know if scum like that is moving in next to me and my family and I feel as a law abiding citizen I have a right to know when people like this move into my neighborhood.

send all sex offenders to rikers island where all they have is each other. and lock in pens. no need to notify me then.

When the victims forget and forgive, only then can the sexual offenders be taken off the list. NEVER happening. Communities Need and Should be advised when one moves into their neighborhood. Hearing "This individual served his time". It is not condusive to the future. Pills or no pills, these predators will be lurking. Someday when someone is unaware and not expecting the unexpected, maybe even 15 years later, someone the individual watched growing up, will take their twisted physical and mental delussions out on.

OK ladies and gentlemen. Get a grip. For starters a helpful website already exists: www.mipsor.state.mi.us This site offers notification of a possible offender just by entering your local zipcode. A careful review of this site offers the status of the offense as to severity. Anyone further curious about someone listed, can find out more thru the Public Information Act. Whine and moan all you want...until this very subject effects someone in your immediate family or yourself. By the way, the "offender" had a lawyer, his rights were observed!

i think everyone is missing the point...this isnt a discussion about who can spell or who can be polite...it's about whether or not we should be emailed if a sex offender moves into our zip code... personally, i think that's a good idea...i'd like to know if a sex offender is living in my neighborhood... also on the registry, it indicates what level they were charged with and whether or not it involved minors...if it involves minors, i'm keepin my 3 girls close...if it was an adult, i'll watch my own back a little closer...i'm not going to condemn them or harass them, i will say hello to them on the street, but i certainly wouldnt call on that neighbor to come watch my girls so i can run to the store after they've fallen asleep...i understand there are alot of falsely accused people, there is in any judicial realm... people who are tried and convicted and now labeled will have to live with it for the rest of their lives...and so they should, the victims have to live with their nightmare for the rest of their lives...i think its only fair to the responsible parents who try to keep their kids safe to keep us informed when there is potential danger...you see a sign on a store window saying "watch your step" so u dont trip and fall on your face....why shouldnt we get a notice saying "watch your children" ....
