1. Hey look! The old boy network is alive and well in Union County. To deny it's existence is asinine. It would be far better for anyone who thinks the "powers that be" have crossed some line, to organize and be vocal against them at election time. They are the state police.

Once again, the burden of proof is on the caller to say that there is a connection between any position or influence Dan Behrens might have with the courts, has got anything to do with the way the newspaper is operated. I'm not entirely sure that Dan Behrens is even practicing law in the county, let alone letting that influence how he operates his business. It is a business, y'know? A privately held business at that. He can operate it however he chooses. It's his. I've talked to the guy about some of these wild accusations and how they relate to whether it would be helpful or harmful to advertise my business with him. I found him to be a decent dude, caught up in the realities of a situation not of his making. As a private business, he has to work within the same framework of that old boy network as we do and as a consequence, they do sometimes under report the dirty dealings of prominent citizens.
I don't agree with it but I'm not going to go on record as throwing him under the bus, because he won't put his livelihood on the line so that I can read some juicy gossip.
