I have lived in Marysville now for a little over a year. I pay full city tax to Marysville as well as full city tax to the city I work in. I'm a single parent and thankfully will be moving shortly as I pay almost as much in city tax as I do total for state tax! I honestly haven't seen much in this town to do unless you are a big drinker.

Sick of It I know exactly what you mean! My husband and I both work in Columbus and pay those taxes as well as the 1% tax to Marysville...it's a pain!!! Adding more taxes is only going to make times tougher! Maybe I'm the only person seeing all these "FOR SALE" signs up on house, there's a reason for it! People just can't afford it right now. All these proposed tax cuts it only going to drive more people out of Marysville, which in turn is going to decrease tax revenue more!

I'm so glad I got out of that dumphole of a town last year. It's going down faster than a 747 with no wings.

Short stuff & Clueless better check your facts.
First there is no such thing as free in this world. If you think i believe the ladder truck was free with a 675,000 grant you have saddenly mistaken. Most grants require the department to participate a certain % of the purchase. Good for Marysville takening advantage of the grant (no issues there). Second, replacement of a 32 year old truck. If my memory serves me correct they purchased a nice ladder truck back in the late 90's. Interesting! Third i never stated laziness in any form nor intelligence of the firefighters. I am sure they serve us well. Fourth why does a ladder truck have to carry the jaws for car wrecks? Just curious why they will not work on another truck. Fifth What happened to the station on the other side of the tracks that use to be used for emergency equipment? It was still there last time i drove by. My last point is i am curious of what percentage of dollars we lost at the city by not collecting income taxes or hiring a outside company to collect them for us. I am sure it was not free. I am not arguing the fact of some needed improvements but the city needs to show the citizens of this community how to manage better. |

I too grew up in Marysville...actually for over 20 years. SO I know exactly how it is. Dont act like things arent going down hill. They are. Specially when you have a JUDGES daughter get busted for heroin in the last month or so. You and me may be one of the lucky ones that were into sports and not into drugs...but let me tell you something...it isnt all the parents faults. I teach my daughter values...but peer pressure is a real thing. And Marysville has changed for the worse. I dont live in Columbus City School district and my child would never go there either. BUT when you have a country city like Marysville that is changing so drastically and laws that are not being enforced or punished the way they should...you will have people dying of horrible illegal causes or children getting busted for every type of drug. Marysville is horrible unless you keep your child sheltered and even then when they hit 18 they are going to go wild. SO dont act like things are just great there. Check out the numbers from 10 years ago til now...they are going down hill fast. And only the BLIND people that just shut their eyes and think it will go away are making it worse....if you are still there....GOOD LUCK. And considering there is a bar on almost EVERY corner of that place or an establishment that sells it...no wonder the DUI numbers have gone up too.

1 ShortStuff...'They serve 82 square miles and 300k people" Where do you get a number like 300K? disgruntled citizen..."Marysville is growing so much what are you doing with the extra tax from all these individuals moving into the area?" You got that correct. You have to wonder...Before Mill Valley went in there was nothing there but a huge farm field. I got to figure the city is pulling in more in taxes now with all the housing that is there now then they did when it was growing produce. The huge amount of retail, and the tax breaks afforded to them,is/are what is killing us. |

First I believe fireman are heroes. But I take issue with your "exhausting 24 hour schedule". Most of the time it is a matter of passing time. But my hat is off to them for the times they do serve the community. |
