Maybe Granny can give us some lesson's on shootin a gun and we can start protecting ourselves. Seem's to me that we can get the job done better than some police officer's can. Would save alot of tax dollar's used to house the criminal's after the cop's, lawyer's and judges get ahold of 'em. See a robber-shoot 'em, see an arsonist-shoot 'em, see a rapist-shoot'em. Just think of the million's of buck's we could save.

Ms. Mayor,

How about cutting some of those tax abatements handed out to your former employer Scotts?

They have had "temporary offices" set up on the property since the last time someone scrutinized their tax deal. I believe that was right before you got elected....and then they got another abatement deal.

How about mentioning the fact that you and the City Council totally ruined the prospects of new businesses coming to town because a 'certain few' were searching for personal goals before the good of the City?

You and council should have sought to build a new Police/ Fire building in the last 10 years when we were riding high.....quite frankly I have lived in M Ville for 13 years now and the Police/ Fire response time is the same today as when I first moved here 13 years ago.

Spend our money better, not spend more of our money.

Lets go ahead and cut those tax abatements. That will solve everything when Scotts, Honda, Home Depot, Lowes, Wal-Mart and any future businesses decide to pack up and leave for the closest community that will hand out abatements.
While were at it we should cut even farther into the Fire Department. 10tv did not mention that Marysville has had to eliminate one part-time firefighter per day; one less able body to protect you city PER DAY. This cut comes to a FD that was already underfunded and way under staffed.
Next we should just do away with the police. Just last week they cleaned the streets of all the heroin seeping into our schools and community. Didn't they?

No new taxes are needed anywhere. Manage the money you already have coming in better and this wouldn't be a problem. My kids school is 70 years old and falling apart and they come to us for money constantly. Wasn't this supposed to be what the lottery was for? Mismanaged money and crooked politicians is what's killing America. Fight back, don't give them a dime.

Kinda like "I'm takin' my toys and goin' home bc I didn't get my way". You didn't pass your tax levy so you're going to punish the citizens of Marysville by cutting back on Police and Fire, not plowing the streets when it snows and even taking the city pool away from the kids. Nice. Perhaps there are some other things (like your payraise, Madam Mayor) you could cut besides necessary public safety services for your citizens?
They wanted a new fire station across the railroad tracks so that the medics and engines weren't delayed getting to an emergency. They have a building in town they used for that purpose at one time, but now it's not "good enough". Sounds like the city's priorities are more than alittle messed up.

Until the city can show me they can spend the money they are getting wisely, why give them more? You can send 8 firemen on duty to places to promote your levy when they are so understaffed. Do better with what you got before you ask for more

Why do they always use income tax and property tax to try and pay for services? Not everyone owns a home or property. Raise the sales tax in your area and stop giving huge tax write offs for large stores. If everyone pays the tax for spending money in the area then you get everyone equally. Those on welfare still pay the taxes and those that rent still pay the taxes, but no policitians want to rape the hard working to subsidize the lazy or cheap.

All the big box stores do the same low-handed tactic.
They promise all this tax revenue for the community they build in. They open their store hire workers then the first chance they get they re-negotiate their tax status and strong arm communities to give them lower tax rates. "We shouldn't have to pay for a 40,000 square ft. building because we are a big box store. If we leave you can't bust up the store into smaller businesses so you should be happy we are here and you should cut us a break."

It happens all the time. Lowes and Walmart in Athens is trying this same crap right now. How about when you build your store you suck it up and agree to your tax levels for your property your business sits on and you just pay it rather than trying to rape the community you feed off of like some blood sucking vampire.

You don't see small business getting to renegotiate their taxes for their property every year.

Actually, no they didn't "clean the streets". Commendable to get a little bit off the streets, but bottom line... they spent countless time, money, and effort, with the net gain being 120 individual doses of heroin and a handful of low level dealers. It's roughly the equivalent of The Keystone cops getting their car off the tracks before the train hits it.

Can't help but wonder if the timing of it wasn't an effort to sway the vote, either.'Spose they could have stayed in investigation mode for a while longer and maybe got the big dogs? Just thinking out aloud here....

Raise taxes, raise taxes, raise taxes. First you build new schools then want to raise the tax to fund these schools. If Marysville is growing so much what are you doing with the extra tax from all these individuals moving into the area? A fire station on the north side of the tracks will not help a citizen in the need of critical emergency hospital care. The EMTs may get to the emergency faster but would still have to wait for the train to get to the hospital, right? Spend my tax money more wisely and show us that you do care about the people in your town. Stop with the threats to take things away. Give a little more to the community an the community will give more to you.

I lived in Marysville MY WHOLE LIFE up until about 2 years ago. I moved out because of the problems with illegal stuff going on. I didnt want my kid going to Marysville schools. All there is to do in that town is drink and drive, do drugs and be lazy! Quit spending money on the lazy druggies and start spending it on something better. Obviously there is a drug issue if at least 5 people in the last year have died of illegal things. Come on...it wasnt like that when I was in school and I am afraid for young family members still there. I can remember when you could leave your doors unlocked at night...Ha! Now you have people coming in your garage and hurting your whole family. The people are out of control and the everyone even the community needs to step up. It seriously makes me sick and very sad. I will NEVER move back.

Ever wondered why the marysville fire department runs one of there ladder aerials on every run? This is the most expensive piece of equipment in the department and we use it for every run and occasionally to get groceries. What use do you have for a aerial ladder for a car wreck? I agree with alot of others here. Clean your own house up before telling me to clean mine.

First thing-- I graduated from Marysville. I never drank, I never did drugs. I knew people who did. If I'd wanted to, I could have easily. I was in several clubs, student council, and I played sports. I never had an issue. I attended college, and I'm now a paramedic and a firefighter (not for Marysville). There needs to be better parenting. Know your child's friends, and know where they are. That's what my parents did, and here I am. I'm a productive "non-lazy" member of society. There were scummy people when I went there, and they're still there. They're everywhere. Look at Columbus and their schools-- Are you kidding me? Look at THEIR drug problems and graduation rates!!! Where in Columbus can you leave your doors unlocked and not have an issue? The bottom line is-- The world is a dangerous place. Where there aren't drugs, you need to look closer because they're just better at hiding it.

It is because you don't see what else is going on. The fire department is VERY busy, and VERY understaffed. A lot of times, they can't spare apparatus. They serve 82 square miles and 300k people (in addition to mutual aid, when another department needs help) with a daily staff of 8-10 firefighter/paramedics. Since when does only one emergency happen at a time? There can be several incidents happening at once.

As for the purchase of the ladder, it was funded by a grant, and REPLACED A 32 YEAR OLD TRUCK. I don't think that's very selfish, do you? They waited to recieve a free truck instead of requiring the City of Marysville to purchase the $675k truck. And fyi-- How many hands do you want on your or your family members to get you out of a car after a car accident? It takes more than just two, who staff the medic. What if you need cut out of your car? Who is going to do that? Also, do you want a car of some idiot who is running late and disregarding the emergency happening in front of them, trying to pass through the scene to hit or injure you/your family/those who are caring for you? There is an entire class on how to position fire apparatus to PROTECT those on scene.

As for them going to the store, I must revert back to "Since when does only one emergency happen at a time." What if everyone else in the station is on a run except for the ladder? "Send someone by themselves in a car." Then they don't meet minimum staffing requirements and can't respond to an emergency. How upset would you be if it took 10 extra minutes for them to get to your emergency because they had to respond to the grocery store to pick up their crewmember, then head out to the run?

Contrary to popular belief, firefighters and paramedics are highly trained individuals who work very hard for a living, and don't go about their day kicked back in a recliner. They are on duty for an exhausting 24 hours at a time. You can't ask the community to only call between certain hours, or to call back at the end of lunchtime.
You are clueless

Actually that is complete bullllllshittt.
They DO NOT run the ladder truck on every run as you claim.
They have a dedicated smaller vehicle, "Quint 271" that responds with the squad.

Allow me remind us all of a few things.

1)It is rarely one elected official that makes backdoor financial dealings to help keep a community running. Example are tax deals to keep businesses local. This take often more than a handful of people to know and move forward with such actions on behalf of an entire community. Can one elected official be dysfunctional and greedy? Yes. We see it often on the news. Every community complains at some point of the same mis-appropriation of funds and wrong-doing by their elected officials. Fact is there are tens of millions of people that also partake daily on the benefits from that same community and their elected official's 'deals'.

2)Politicians are elected to represent us as a community. They are mainly open minded and / or open door persons. You can speak your mind. However, he / she must act for the best interest of their community. Not what you or I feel is best. But our group (community) as a whole.

3)I know at least two of you that have posted here have not voted. Yet I find you here upset and spouting a tantrum of mix. Please at least vote before you speak your mind. Whether you believe your vote counts or not,... it's your voice. And it's far more important in the vote count.

4)I'm never sure why one poster has to feel compelled to come back and re-post after someone comments on their post. Say your peace, move on and let others give their opinion. My opinions are mine. But I always welcome other opinions. I've grown considerably from such yielding. Read. Absorb. Don't feel compelled to re-state your facts. Allow them to be well stated and allow others to comment their feelings. I don't always agree with what is said after my comments. I have only re-posted once at 10tv.com . However, I rarely go back and read my own posts. Because people tend to annoy me at their arguing back and forth and missing the important issues. That is my feeling. I am open to yours.

5)I have called in to complain on a burger drive-thru. Or a store that was less than polite or obviously wrong. However, I have likely made 3 calls to every 1 call to compliment a company. Having been in politics at one point. Having been in 'customer service' for years,... I can assure you I am one of maybe a hundred to make that effort. Do you like to be appreciated? So does the drive-thru burger joint. So does the store manager. So does your elected officials. Is it their 'job'? Yes. Are you not getting the human side of this equation? If not, then I need not continue this particular comment. But I encourage you to 'voice' yourself to your elected officials. However, you will be far better received if you compliment them on things they have done better or more than expected. Then comment on things that you feel are concerning to you. Everyone appreciates approval and gratitude. Even you.

Those are my comments. I am in Marysville. To those that are being childish, please move elsewhere. Yield to adult-minded people that hope to put some thoughts together. And finally I do not even comment on childish and illegitimate comments. They are often posted there by attention-needing child behaviors. Mind them no attention, please.

Most Respectfully,
Marysville

Daily Horoscope for December 26

Scorpio

Something that you've always taken for granted or believed implicitly could have a big question mark hanging over it during the next few weeks. The more entrenched your views are about this, the more difficult it will be to accept that perhaps it's time for a change of opinion or, at the very least, a revaluation of what you think. Mercury turns retro in your house of communications, so do your best to be open-minded now.
