I for one am glad it failed the City is growing that is true but they want it to be like Dublin, I lost 5% of my pay due to the great ecomeny we have now, did the Mayor say anything about the singer station, across the RR crossings 1 mile from MIll valley NO she Didn"t, the this is no more then a attemp to fatten the city and line pockets of elected officals, I watched the city repave the road with 9 workers, 3 working and the others watching, I requested police help with a problem I was having involving a assault in the High School they the city refused to respone to my complaint, one thing I also use to be a part time Policeofficer for the city of Marysville, the County restores old buildings for there use at little or no cost to the public

Now it's payback time... You didn't vote for a tax increase so we'll lay off cops and firemen..... ...we'll worry about paying for the new sewage plant later.... I guess we could hike the water rates again....make them the highest in the nation instead of highest in the state.... The schools are puting a levy on the May ballot.....

The Mayors hardball tactics would be better served, by telling M/I and Dominion that the City is not opening any more land to compound the problem, until they build a fire station/police substation. Those two developers have carried millions of dollars out of the county and the city. They can afford to be responsible developers for the privilege of making their money here.

It is clear that many small mayors do not understand what is really going on. It was not a turn down of the tax increase but a rejection that when we are in the worst economic times in the past 50 years they want to build. $4.1 million is a lot of money and it needs to be understood that the Mayor needs to be replaced if that person thinks in these times we need to build. We need people to keep their jobs and that is all that needed to happen. Don't put your wish list out get real with real life, the life of the people who voted and have to pay the tax. We are in a mess because elected officials were given green lights to do what they wanted in good times. Well when we have more people to feed we just add water to the soup and not more meat. Cut the meat out of the plan and we will consider your plan.

This is outrages! The newpayroll tax monies was for 9 additional fireman and a new firehouse and not to "shore up" previous accounting problems. Yes, we listen as you overspend for new vehicles such as high speed police cruiser without having a qualified driver. Yes we listen as you over purchase utility vehicles such as a $128,000 camera truck for waste, storm and sewer line inspection when you could have out-sourced these services on as need basis. Your Utility services and Park services need a austerity program as they are on a run-away spending for new vehicles and equipment as they justify their existence. Your Safety Services have been extended to outlying areas for a token of their value. Start charging these Townships residences for the services at a reimbursement fee(s) that compensates Marysville for it's liability, equipment upkeep and manpower. The Township residences are not paying a fair share of taxes to enjoy what the city taxpayers are providing them. A payroll tax on non-residences is a taxation on employees without representation.

The city had a real budget and a hypothetical budget. The idea of increaseing income taxes was totally assinine and I hope they drop it, but it is clear they are going to be like the schools and beg, plead, lie, cheat & steal until they squeak it through and get their way even if it is only for excess. In essence Marysville has a bad goverment and school system. It pukes me out to think of all the years of resourses used to pass ineffictual carnival and soliciter requirements then the day after a bogus income tax increase fails they come out crying about how they are taking the public pool private and if the up front tickicts don't cover the cost of operation , the pool will not open next summer. Get real--Stop the hype ,,elected city officials.

Marysville seems to have tax levies at least 3 times a year.....primary & general election day....and at least 1 "special" election for the schools... The schools are always puting 4 - 5 -6 or more mill levies on the ballot..... Not to mention the county departments... The commisioners raised the sales tax..... The City raised the water/sewer/trash rates by 25 - 30%..... They pushed for the incometax raise to build a new police station.."because other cities our size have them"........ The new houses planned were going to pay for the sewage plant....but now there are no new houses, so the people are going have to make that up.....

This is what Franklin County people should have done but they were suckers. The only way to scale back this awful government is to stop feeding it. If you keep feeding it it just keeps growing fatter and fatter. It's obese, morbidly obese. And it's eating all of us. I'm thrilled to hear DARE will be eliminated. People can watch their own blocks without Big Brother nosing in. Let people spend their own money any way they choose. But they won't take NO for an answer will they? They're going to put it on again. And spend your money to do it.

We have to remember this one thing. These people work for us! Like any employer, if they're not doing the job like they're supposed to do, they are replaceable. Projects such as a new fire station and police station should be funded with bonds and levies. This is an insult. These officials must think that the residents of Marysville (myself included) are real idiots if we're going to vote for a 50% tax increase!!! Particularly in this economic climate!! This is a wake up call residents. The only reason that the vote was so close (51%-49%) was because the income tax increase didn't apply to senior citizens. Seniors typically get out and vote in higher numbers. This was part of the strategy of trying to get this thing passed. This is a wake up call residents. Time to start interviewing new canditates for the positions (elected officials) that will represent our views. I understand that everybody's views aren't the same, but there's a point where common sense takes over!!

If people are surprised by the cuts, it is because they weren't listening, Schmenk said. I think Schmenk is the one who is NOT LISTENING! A new police station>not needed! More firestations and fireman>not needed! Now that the voters did not give this mayor more money to waste > SHE IS THREATENING TO PUNISH YOU! What Marysville really needs is a NEW MAYOR! She will continue to spend the taxpayers money by puttng this on the ballot, until her threats succeed! Bet on it!

Once again we will be punished for Chris Schmenk's inability to govern. Nothing was said at her presentations about this in fact she stated in two of them that I was at that the staffing of the fire and police department would not be affected by this levy. Which lie are we suppose to believe. It is time for a new mayor, someone who knows more about business and less about trying to get what she wants and the populace be damned.

Oh, we did think it through! We are tired of being talked to as if we are idiots. The city has had more revenue coming in then they are telling us about. Why would we want to give them more of our income? They have annexed Scotts in the last 10 years. That gave them more money to work with. They have many business open recently which gave them more revenue. Trust me, if we speed or run a stop sign there will be plenty of police to see and write you a ticket. Our safety is not at risk. We used to have another fire station at the end of Main Street (on the other side of the railroad tracks towards the fairgrounds) What happened to that one? Since the city allowed the growth, why didn't they plan and budjet for the growth? We have more people paying into the real estate taxes and buying merchandise (thus increasing the sales tax revenue) How can Marysville possible be hurting except for GREED! There are twop empty school buildings in this town that could be ultilized. Why doesn't this city government problem solve instead of wanting more, more, more. Power corrupts!

This is one way city making money and threatening of lay offs. Tax payers money is being spent in different world for war etc. Imagine people in Iraq buying BMw, Benz etc and our childrens are suffering to get flu vaccine, waiting in Hospitals, No proper insurance, education, jobs where other nations are developing. No one is caring for middle class families.

This is nothing more than a get even for the tax not passing. I was at several meetings where it was clearly stated that police and fire would NOT be cut as the city wanted to maintain a high quality of safety. I would have been more than happy to vote for a tax increase had Columbus, where I work had not raised their tax. Between Columbus and Marysville I pay 3.5% in income taxes. I'm not voting to give up anymore of my hard earned cash. Lets take a look at the facts. I pay 15% Federal, 8% State and 3.5% city taxes. That equals: 26.5% plus social security. Enough of government taking our cash! We are fed up with it. Time for a new Mayor and City Council...especially Council President Gore...a jerk!

No more police...I have my own guns at home and a CCW permit. I'll be my own police. Fire...That's why I have insurance. We need to ban together as a community and vote NO for new school levies and any kind of tax in the next few months.
