Great News!
The use of Sub-Stations, works really well in parks/Schools!
Really good PR also having Sheriffs units around closer will help those (Others) think twice before doing something wrong!

The current location on Ocean St. doesn't seem to deter criminal behavior in San Lorenzo Park, right outside their windows (yes, I know that's the City jurisdiction, not County, but still...). I agree it would be nice to have a large sub station in Live Oak, AND keep the Ocean St. office. Being in the Government Center though, is especially helpful since many times a person needs to go between the Sheriff, DA and courts on a matter.

That is one of the four Sheriff's sub-stations around the county, part of the community policing trend.

It's really a great idea as Live Oak has seen more gang activity. There's also a lot of open commercial space on Soquel Frontage Road. Why not spread out the police force? It would be very hard to object to this plan.
Good for Live Oak

I'm all for any improvements in the Live Oak area as well as more police. Live Oak seems to be the arm pit of santa cruz and I hope it can get rid of that image. Good luck and I hope this happens.

I strongly support moving the Sheriff's Office into the County jurisdiction, such as the Live Oak area. I do also believe that their present location in the County Government Building would suit well as a "sub station", in the Courthouse and across from the County Jail.

I hope that the Board of Supervisors will support Sheriff Wowak in this possible, very positive, transition.

Sincerely,

Steve Carr, retired Santa Cruz County Deputy Sheriff and former Santa Cruz City Police Officer

Daily Horoscope for January 4

Leo

Even though you usually pride yourself on being the strong silent type, love has a way of unlocking your tongue. The words coming out of your mouth may be familiar, but your sense of timing makes all the difference right now. Keep in mind that you never know how a risky gesture will work out, although you can always hope for the best. When in doubt, take the more cautious path.
