Marvell High School Shut Down After Fights Break Out

Everyone need 2 get along but I believe that is never gonna happen from what I have seen since I have been in Marvell School. My first day there I knew that It was going 2 be trouble From the Way they acted toward us.

First of all, it was a dumb move for the state to put two Schools together anyway. Being honest now, When you have a gang of black students with another pair of black students, it is bound for a fight to break out. I went to school in Elaine and I understand that some Marvell students feel that we were taking there school but we really wasn't. We have been force to go. Elaine feel that we don't want to be here. So acourse there will be fights, after fights, after fights,and after fights untill sombody realize that were not going anywhere. I think that we should get our school back not because of the students, because I think marvell kids are great, it just the time that I had to wake up to go to school. People have to get on the bus before 6am. Answer me this, would you want your six year old to wake up at 5am everyday to catch the bus? There is a law that students should not ride the bus for 40 to 50 minutes. But they want put that in the news paper, because I think the State is all about money. Elaine and Marvell should get along and stop blaming each other school, and blame your own because it take two people to fight and one to back away..........Love Elaine and Marvell

You know years ago, we had the freedom of choice act pushed on us for one year, we had about 5 black students come to MHS. There were no fights then or the next years when if was forced on us both. They didn't like being in our school either and we didn't like having to go across town to theirs. Well, I didn't my brother did. But my point is, "It's not either one of you guy's who did this. Yes, it's the govt." But you can make it work in time. We had the private school start back then and yes it caused a lot of hard feeling in the town. The better residents sent their kids there and they had blacks working on there farms. As far the bus ride I agree its to long. I placed my child on the bus 30 mins. before school and he gets home an hour after schools out. Does his homework in the bus line, most of the time, and maintains an A avg. on report card. No I do not even live in AR any more, but I would move back on in a heart beat, if it wasn't for my grandkids living here. I have been gone for more than 35 years. When I come back its like i never left. Except I can recognize people anymore. But I have chgd and they still know me. So hang in there, it's partly b/c Marvell and Elaine were always big rivals in school and we were with Holly Grove too.
Are you still the Mustangs. I know they chgd. our purple and gold years ago.

I went to Elaine High School up into we had to consolidate with Marvell High School and I can honestly say it was a huge mistake. There has been fight after fight and there not going to stop until either someones seriously hurt or Elaine schools back open.I agree with Ashton about the early awakenings and even longer stay on the bus. I also dont get why everythings blamed on the Elaines students. When the Eyewitness news came to Marvell for the shutting down of the school after the big brawl they only got Marvells side of the story. Some of the people of that town made it seem like the fights were started by the Elaine kids because we wanted our school back. YES we want our school back, but NO we are not starting every single fight that goes on in that school. If anyone remembers it was Marvell that started the first fight when a brawl between a Marvell and Elaine student turned into half of Marvell jumping in it on that one Elaine student. Although im not saying Elaine start every fight im also not putting it all on Marvell either. I may no longer attend Marvell High School but that doesnt mean i dont care nor still feel apart of the Elaine/Marvell shool district because I LOVE both Elaine and Marvell students and i pray and hope no one from either side gets seriously hurt. Somebody needs to hear the cry for help in that school before the tears be for a STUDENT.

It's not the elaine kids fault for all of the fights that have been goin on. It all started when they jumped one elaine student and we had to get dem back. Then it has just gone on from there. I was there when all the fights were goin on and I was fightin for e-town. They got mad becuz they thought we waz try to take they school over. We waz forced to go to they school we didnt want to. We goin to keep fightin til they give us our school back. I have to get up at 5:30 in the mornin just to catch the bus. But, the state don't even care because we just a bunch of broke people livin in the delta of arkansas. So they jus say let up fight. The name is Kenny Jones and I will still fight for my hood til I drop dead. I will fight for what I beleive is right. And them marvell boys bringin guns to school that friday too. All we had was a lock to put on our hands. Most of all the fights is because they be wantin to act hard and stuff. And u can Marvell know I dont care. They be lyin on me talkin bout that we jumped some dude up there and robbed him and then after that the police come knockin on my door.

To me it's all a bunch of non-sense none of this should have happened because it hasn't and it will never solve anything.A lot of people who got into fights really didn't know why they were doing it in the first place.Marvell and Elaine students just had it bad when they found out they were going to be together.Everyone needs to just put aside all differences because they will never solve anything fighting all the time.Marvell and Elaine needs to just try to work together and rise above all the Drama they cause beteen each other and that's real I've been there done that and I tell you IT ISN'T WORTH IT @ ALL!!!!!!!!!

Did you graduate in 1974? I attended Marvell High Also.

What's with all the fights last week and this week at MHS? Parents showing up on campus promoting the fighting? Something needs to be done before someone gets seriously hurt!
