(1 John 2:29) If you know that he is righteous, you know that everyone who does what is right [does righteousness/justice] has been born of him.
“What is right” is better translated “righteousness” or even “justice.”“Righteousness” is a word that had a long history when John wrote it. It was a favorite of the Old Testament prophets, and John assumes that his readers are familiar with the concept. (Amos 5:7-24) You who turn justice into bitterness and cast righteousness to the ground … 10 you hate the one who reproves in court and despise him who tells the truth. 11 You trample on the poor and force him to give you grain.… 12 For I know how many are your offenses and how great your sins. You oppress the righteous and take bribes and you deprive the poor of justice in the courts.… 15 Hate evil, love good; maintain justice in the courts.… 21 “I hate, I despise your religious feasts; I cannot stand your assemblies. 22 Even though you bring me burnt offerings and grain offerings, I will not accept them. Though you bring choice fellowship offerings, I will have no regard for them. 23 Away with the noise of your songs! I will not listen to the music of your harps. 24 But let justice roll on like a river, righteousness like a never-failing stream! This gives something of the flavor of the word. We are called to be righteous in the sense that God himself is righteous. It’s about caring for the poor and helping those who need justice. It’s caring about the people God cares about. Not surprisingly, we see that “walk in the light,”“love,” and “walk as Jesus did” are all equivalent to “do righteousness.” http://graceconversation.com/2009/07/15/what-... |

5 In the days of Herod, king of Judea, there was a priest named Zechariah, of the division of Abijah. And he had a wife from the daughters of Aaron, and her name was Elizabeth. 6 And they were both righteous before God, walking blamelessly in all the commandments and statutes of the Lord.

Do you need Jesus?
Do you obey God blamelessly in all the commandments and statutes of the Lord? Tell the truth, Shawn. What did John say about those claiming to without sin. |

Tell the truth, Shawn. What did John say about those claiming to without sin. "If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us." |

Shawn, I think we have stated this many times, but let me do so again. We are not suggesting nor saying one should disobey. We are saying one can not live in this world without sinning. You know you sin. Heck, even Mr. Robertson states he still sins.
“If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us.” What if an atheist strived to live a moral and upright life, would it mean anything? The very reason a Christian desires to live Godly is because they are compelled by the love of God to do so. If you are striving to be obedient to God because you are thankful for Jesus and desire to please God, I agree with you. If you are attempting to place your filthy rags of self righteousness before God as if you meet all of His standards, then I disagree. |

AMEN! AND And they were both righteous before God, walking blamelessly in all the commandments and statutes of the Lord. Luke 1:6 AMEN? The point? Humans can obey ALL God's commandments. In doing so nothing is earned. www.roysecitycoc.org |

Have YOU obeyed the commands of God PERFECTLY?
Shawn, you may have yourself fooled, but we know better. Doesn’t the Law point us to Christ, seeing is reveals our inability to keep all of the commands 100% of the time. Rather than you make this a possibility for “humans” lets hear you state YOU never sin and always blameless before God. Lets hear you make this personal and not a mere possibility for humans. Waiting….. |

And they were both righteous before God, walking blamelessly in all the commandments and statutes of the Lord. Luke 1:6 This was under the LAW of MOSES and they did it. We are under a NEW and BETTER covenant. Stop making excuses for the disobedient. www.roysecitycoc.org |

Shawn, I ask a simple question. You neglect to answer because you know YOU do not live up to the very statements you are citing.

Here is another good verse: I will give you a new heart, and a new spirit I will put within you. And I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. And I will put my Spirit within you, "and cause you to walk in my statutes and be careful to obey my rules.'(Ezekiel 36:26-27)

7 “So you, son of man: I have made you a watchman for the house of Israel; therefore you shall hear a word from My mouth and warn them for Me. 8 When I say to the wicked,‘O wicked man, you shall surely die!’ and you do not speak to warn the wicked from his way, that wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood I will require at your hand. 9 Nevertheless if you warn the wicked to turn from his way, and he does not turn from his way, he shall die in his iniquity; but you have delivered your soul.
10 “Therefore you, O son of man, say to the house of Israel:‘Thus you say,“If our transgressions and our sins lie upon us, and we pine away in them, how can we then live?”’ 11 Say to them:‘As I live,’ says the Lord GOD,‘I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but that the wicked turn from his way and live. Turn, turn from your evil ways! For why should you die, O house of Israel?’ Ezek. 33:7-11 www.roysecitycoc.org |

12 “Therefore you, O son of man, say to the children of your people:‘The righteousness of the righteous man shall not deliver him in the day of his transgression; as for the wickedness of the wicked, he shall not fall because of it in the day that he turns from his wickedness; nor shall the righteous be able to live because of his righteousness in the day that he sins.’ 13 When I say to the righteous that he shall surely live, but he trusts in his own righteousness and commits iniquity, none of his righteous works shall be remembered; but because of the iniquity that he has committed, he shall die. 14 Again, when I say to the wicked,‘You shall surely die,’ if he turns from his sin and does what is lawful and right, 15 if the wicked restores the pledge, gives back what he has stolen, and walks in the statutes of life without committing iniquity, he shall surely live; he shall not die. 16 None of his sins which he has committed shall be remembered against him; he has done what is lawful and right; he shall surely live.
17 “Yet the children of your people say,‘The way of the Lord is not fair.’ But it is their way which is not fair! 18 When the righteous turns from his righteousness and commits iniquity, he shall die because of it. 19 But when the wicked turns from his wickedness and does what is lawful and right, he shall live because of it. 20 Yet you say,‘The way of the Lord is not fair.’ O house of Israel, I will judge every one of you according to his own ways.” Ezek. 33:12-20 www.roysecitycoc.org |

19 “Yet you say,‘Why should the son not bear the guilt of the father?’ Because the son has done what is lawful and right, and has kept all My statutes and observed them, he shall surely live. 20 The soul who sins shall die. The son shall not bear the guilt of the father, nor the father bear the guilt of the son. The righteousness of the righteous shall be upon himself, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon himself.
21 “But if a wicked man turns from all his sins which he has committed, keeps all My statutes, and does what is lawful and right, he shall surely live; he shall not die. 22 None of the transgressions which he has committed shall be remembered against him; because of the righteousness which he has done, he shall live. 23 Do I have any pleasure at all that the wicked should die?” says the Lord GOD,“and not that he should turn from his ways and live? 24 “But when a righteous man turns away from his righteousness and commits iniquity, and does according to all the abominations that the wicked man does, shall he live? All the righteousness which he has done shall not be remembered; because of the unfaithfulness of which he is guilty and the sin which he has committed, because of them he shall die. 25 “Yet you say,‘The way of the Lord is not fair.’ Hear now, O house of Israel, is it not My way which is fair, and your ways which are not fair? 26 When a righteous man turns away from his righteousness, commits iniquity, and dies in it, it is because of the iniquity which he has done that he dies. 27 Again, when a wicked man turns away from the wickedness which he committed, and does what is lawful and right, he preserves himself alive. 28 Because he considers and turns away from all the transgressions which he committed, he shall surely live; he shall not die. 29 Yet the house of Israel says,‘The way of the Lord is not fair.’ O house of Israel, is it not My ways which are fair, and your ways which are not fair? 30 “Therefore I will judge you, O house of Israel, every one according to his ways,” says the Lord GOD.“Repent, and turn from all your transgressions, so that iniquity will not be your ruin. 31 Cast away from you all the transgressions which you have committed, and get yourselves a new heart and a new spirit. For why should you die, O house of Israel? 32 For I have no pleasure in the death of one who dies,” says the Lord GOD.“Therefore turn and live!” Ezek. 18:19-32 www.roysecitycoc.org |

I also love how much you love the OT, until you read about music...
Love how you use it to beifit your view without regard for scripture as a whole. If we run to the OT and do this, we are reminded quickly that its not part of Gods plan today. |

I also love how much you love the OT, until you read about burning incense, sacrificing bulls, trips to Jerusalem (all found in the Psalms)... www.roysecitycoc.org |

Does not the New Testament speak of these being shadows? Jesus is the lamb that took away sins.
This has nothing to with Music in service of that is what you wish to prove. |
