the reality is that what will be built will be a big circus like tent and a parking lot.
There will be no $12m a year, ever.
I picture that the richmond city council is a group of people with no education to mention. Their vote will be bought. Indians aren't stupid.
At the end of the day Richmond and Marin will both spend $20 combined in extra police and lawsuits galore.
THIS IS A BAD IDEA. FEINSTEIN, STOP THE MADNESS! YOU HAVE THE POWER TO STOP THIS!! NOW DO THE WILL OF THE PEOPLE!!
Pretty much sums up my feeling. Richmond will never see *dime one* out of this deal, and we will have another under used and unneeded mall - point Molate? Candlestick point north anyone?

We could get rid of all the casinos if everyone simply stopped going to them. Like that is going to happen - I continue to be astonished by the ongoing demand for gambling in the US - I never expected this to happen.

Casinos zap money from small businesses. People only have so much spending money. It either goes to the barber, bookstore, grocer, restaurant, gas station, etc. or it goes to the casino. Every dollar that goes to a casino is one dollar less that goes to small business.

Nice spot to be f****** by another colossal development. Isn't there some other way to get jobs to people without gaming? Like solar electric enterprises or some other clean energy production? This is a loser deal. Thank the evil banking industry once again for bringing the fall of the US economy on our heads and necessitating idiot moves like this.
Amen, well put. Agree 100%.

a COLOSSAL development! Why must it be a solar electric enterprise or some other feel good "green" idea? Are these the only profitable or socially concious projects?
Yes, alternative energy is one the few bright spots in the Calforina economy.

Maybe we build low income housing!

Richmond has plenty, feel free to investigate the vacancy rates. It is clear that Richmond does not need more.
Greg Brady wrote:
Ask Rocklin what a loser deal the Thunder Valley Casino is! People flock from the bay area to go gamble, folks like gambling.

What an awful comparison... you make it sound like there are no differences between Rocklin and Richmond. What is the homicide rate in Rocklin? What about the general crime rate in Rocklin? And I love you pick one casino that is perfoming well. How is the ol' "Konocti Vista Casino Resort Marina & RV Park‎" in Lakeport doing? Don't bother to answer, I can tell you. Awful.
Greg Brady wrote:
Gambling does not satisfy our white guilt, it is barbaric and someone could lose money!
I, for one, have no white guilt. Sure, it is awful what happened to American Indian tribes in 18th and 19th century, but that is history, done. Building a casino won't change that.
Greg Brady wrote:
What if (gulp) the casino actually used some green building principless! Insane.
Using tons of electricity and getting people to drive there will make it less than green. But if is built, sure, I hope it is LEED certified.
Greg Brady wrote:
What if it employed some dead weight folks and kicked some revenue in to boot!
Are you saying Richmond residents are "dead weight"? Classy.

Might be a good time to invest in window and door bars if you live in Larkspur Landing. "Build it and they will come" was never more of a prophecy - especially if you live near the Marin side of the bridge.

The only upside is the criminals gangbangers and assorted scum of Richmond will stay on the other side of the bridge to do their crimes cuz its closer to the hood and they can save the bridge toll
Easy pickins just lie in wait for the folks to leave with their winings

You could say the same thing about taxes.

This, like the lottery, is a tax on the poor. I can't imagine driving across the bridge to see people handing over their money day and night. Will there be metal detectors at the door?

No it's not. No one HAS to buy a lottery ticket or gamble. The consequences are much more severe for not paying taxes you owe.

This is a large union voting block...there in Richmond and East Bay. You are now seeing the effects of ENABLING unionists. They will build this crime magnet...you cannot stop them anymore than you could stop the airline wait lines. They now have reached a critical mass...vote wise. They own us. Obama plainly tipped his hat to this casino union lobby in Nevada....remember when he beat Hillary. Now. we get to have this obvious insult to our sensibilities. But alas, these unions need work. So if it requires you sacrificing your taxes....so be it.........your bridges...so be it......your kinder in a war on lies....so be it. The unions appetite for power in the name of stability is insatiable.
We must get real and face the union monster....DIRECTLY!!!!!
Your response is pure BS, American Taxpayer. This is about a very wealthy gaming enterprise backing a tribe who's been battered by whites throughout the centuries. The unions are looking out for their members, like all good unions do, they're not in the drivers seat here. Sign the petition and get Richmond to back green jobs, and yes join a union, because that's the only organization that is ultimately going to protect the rear ends of the American worker....not Obama, the useless democrats or the evil republicans.

Never, Never, vote because you feel guilty about the past treatment of a group.

This is what you get. Biggest mistake the voters have made, EVER

Except that taxes provide the tax payer with essential services. So, I guess you couldn't really say that about taxes.

Sa local, I bet you are over 45. I say this because there has been a big change in outlook in the last 20 years. The kids today are relatively hopeless and gambling goes with that. So does war. What I find strange is how positive the Latinos are...they shine! The American kids look downright "freaked out" in comparison. Maybe the Latinos are our future. I trust 'em.

And casinos provide jobs, and jobs allow people to pay taxes. It's all interconnected.

....yes, minimum wage jobs--nothing substantial. The money casinos take out of people's pockets is the issue---less disposable income for the rest of the economy

Casinos DONT provide jobs; they hurt local businesses, who have to fire their employees = no net jobs. Casinos don't pay local taxes - local businesses do.
