MTD, now working people and not paying them. Yesterday they worked 13 people for 2 hours on a line without paying them..how bogus. I will never buy an MTD product, due to thier greed..disguisting and the labor board of Tn allows this?

Just like the shitty TN labor law allows companies to fire people without reason or probable cause.

But you are possibly referring to Ham-Rikes being tested for line duty. If they don't qualify, they don't get hired. So yeah, of course they can't get paid for those 2 hours of "work." They have to prove their capable 1st.

Too bad most parents are not tested before being allowed to have children.

Test or not, it was work. They should at least get minimum wage. That's BS! But that place will be closed in a couple of years. Layoffs and such just like Goodyear.

I work for mtd for four season as a temp the fifth season hamiton riker won't call me back. That how mtd roll out out of a few hundred temps mtd might hire a couple a year fulltime. The ones they do hire would be family or drinking buddies of the people who works there.

MTD hires lots of temps and job shares to avoid paying benefits. They are playing the game under the rules forced upon them, for the most part. I expect if some temps worked and were not paid the problem just might be with Hamilton-Riker, who provides the temp workers. MTD corporation has a pretty good financial record.

MTD Martin is not likely to go the way of Goodyear because there is no union. MTD has closed a union plant or two of its own--Brownsville plant has closed.

If they can't automate it, expect it to be sipped over us boarders soon and watch for plant closing or consolidation, but lower wage jobs will be cut by the hundreds.
I worked at ctp wich announced to its employees its closing its doors today.

yeah those corporate tax rates are just terrible to force on them lol!
Ctp wasn't union and they closed down. Then again they pay an engineer salary to do time studies and tell everybody the place didn't look clean enough so the ceo had a great idea to paint the whole shop white, even the welding department. That's a safety issue, you don't paint weld boothes white. We also had a robot engineer by the name of jeff s. I hope he goes to your plant next. What a joke. Mtd maked garbage! Oily/ rusty parts welded together, bads welds just welded over. Uv is a joke. I really couldn't believe we made so much crap. I would ask myself, who wants to spend that kind of money on something that looks like crap. Beds full of weld burnthrough and grind marks, because they won't buy a sanding abrasives that remove them and they don't primer before powdercoat.

Well if MTD closes there will be certain people who love to play rich that will have to stop taking their little cruises and vacations to the beach and other places 2 or 3 times a year. They will actually have to use CS money for the kids and not to fund their little excursions! Oh the horror! Lmao!

Its really not funny though, american corporations waste so much. Every meeting we had they talked about quality and customer satisfaction, but right at the end "we have to compete with our asian competition, so whoever does it cheaper gets the work." so how they figured having an engineer doing time studies, and a robot engineer who welds 8 guage steel with two robots burning on it at the same time using .052 wire! And then the head of qc asks a hand welder why the thing is so warped! Are you guys kidding? I guess it could be funny, thinking about how those guys will probably be applying for the same job I will in a week, but a lot of people who worked hard and actually cared are hung out to dry.

im sure they have an agreement with riker not to hire, that way they can keep them living off ya'lls money, its f**ked up, should be against the law. There's gota be a reason for it why cant mtd take app, then test. then say yes or no? And as for the drinking buddies you are right, there is no more senority out there if you are a {BUBBA} or go 4 wheeler rideing , beer drinking, or if you know something on the coaches then your IN whatever you want you get.

lol! And who the f**k are you, one of the dumb azzez that engineered the ventilation system at mtd martin??? Here in ohio mtd has removed a furnace from a plant they are closing and its obvious they didn't have a permit or get it tested for asbestos before they had the hillbilly maintenance crew from Tennessee start to remove it. They did it with everybody working there unaware that it was being done, and did nothing to tarp/seal off the area where the were working. These are salary employees making these irresponsible decisions. And we dummies have called our lawyers. Keep it up mtd. You'll never compete with ayp, ever.

Lol! all the corporate douchebags run a company into the ground and give them selves "gold sprig" awards for shipping a uv or painting the floor. Why not all rob and his kids want to do is buy up the competition and run it into the ground any way. Mtd makes junk and will always have to stick to making junk because they have failed miserably at anything else.
