Ashley Pennington - Public Defender - OVERPAID!

MY GOODNESS. Why are is our money abused like this?!

I saw what these chief public defenders are paid with OUT MONEY, and my mouth dropped.

THEY ARE NOT WORTH $2500.00 a WEEK + the FREE government retirement + free paid sick leave + paid annual leave + 4 weeks of paid vacation!!!!!

We are being screwed up the butt!

Most lawyers in talk the same way. Check out the psycho in Moncks Corner, too. They ran her out of the Chas court system.

You people don't have a damned clue what you are talking about. Ashley Pennington puts in more hours in a day than most people do for 3. I have watched him work tirelessly with very little staff. I am proud to now him, but yes, you are a damned fool if you rely on one because they are OVERWORKED. If you want to stay out of jail, you best be paying for an attorney. There is no such thing as a truly free ride.

I agree that there is not enough assistant public defenders on staff. And many are stretched thin as it is. The budget has been cut and funds are limited. After seeing this thread along with some brief research thereafter, I do find, however, public salaries for certain entities under Mr. Pennington ( both attorney and non ) to be questionable.

When you have non-lawyer administrative office staff, ones with very little education beyond high school being paid between $55,000.00 to $70,000.00 or more a year - with the public's money (not to mention their government benefits ), it goes without further saying.

Myself, I have no reason to question Mr. Pennington's integrity. But I can understand some being curious as to pay scales for public servants. I think voters are frustrated because of the state of the union, the economy, and reports of widespread scandals and abuse in government.
