Wow! As an ex amish I am certainly no fan of the amish, but you guys are so misinformed it is pathetic! The ONLY tax they are exempt from is social security tax and the reason for that is because they will never collect it. They even pay public school tax just like the rest of the population even though they have their own private schools. They pay sales tax, property tax, income tax,and every other tax that is collected in the USA. Most of them even carry liability tax in case they happen to be in an accident with a car or whatever. It is an Amish non-profit type of fund where they have it from. You people spouting all this garbage about them are showing your ignorance in a big way!

They don't use any government medical services either. All medical care is paid from a communal fund or by the family in cash.

They should have to put license on the buggies and pay dear for them. Look at the sides of the roads how bad beat up they are. One horse will do more damage than 10,0000 cars would on the side of the road.

Daht ta da...they pay taxes and to some extent help the economy in the communities in which they reside, and also they do not use food stamps or medicaid its against their religion actuall, im not siding with them or sticking up for them cause I dnt care for alot of them myself but simply pointing out your misleadings, atleast know a few facts before you open your trap, im pretty dumb myself( hints the spelling and grammer) but I try to know what im talking bout before running my mouth lol

In the Missouri driving manual it says that no metal wheeled vehicle is to be driven on roads. Check their wheels.

All I can find is: "307.171. 1. No person shall operate any motor vehicle upon any road or highway of this state between the first day of April and the first day of November while the motor vehicle is equipped with tires containing metal or carbide studs. " Which includes the term "motor vehicle" thus does not include an animal drawn vehicle. Please elaborate.

It's not if it is true, it is truth, all of this has been taken to the sheriffs dept. As I mother I took it before the whole congregation one Sunday so other parents and children would be warned. I did not want to be held accoutable for another child being hurt by this person. We are searching for an attourney that would be willing to take on this case. Another boy of the same congregation had been messed with by the same woman and he in turn got in trouble for an act on an 8 yr. old in the same church. The young man got sent to Juvinelle detention , the woman to this crime is still running free. She has confessed to her wrong doing, the law and many state representative know about this and she still runs free. I have contacted many of the people we have voted in, thinking they might be more then willing to help because it's a child and children being abused. On the otherhand the state can easily and willing shuting down kennels for abuse and at the same time are telling people that have been sexually abused it may take a couple years. Animals vs humans, that's where the statement GONE TO THE DOGS is really showing it's true meaning in our juditial and/or legal system. When a pedifile is allowed to do what they do and continue to be in the mainstream of things without any punishment or treatment to insure the people they cannot hurt another isn't put to any importance and a dog gets better treatment then a child this world's going to definitely continue to have problems.

I find it difficult to believe you went before the congregation. If the pastor knew, as you allege, he would have never allowed you the pulpit. You sound like you simply have a grudge against a church.

You sound like you simply have a grudge against a church. I did go before the congregation, It took me a while, but I believe the day I went that God opened the door for me to go. It took alot for me to get up there. God gave me the strength, I know he did, because alone I could not have done that. All I can hope is somebody heard and took to heart. I don't know why Pastor Joe allowed me to go up front, but I asked after he was done preaching. I don't know why he allowed me to say what I had to say. But I know it happened and nobody at that church can blame anyone, but themselves when it happens again, because they have been told. We were in court again today, only to have the system set another court date for March 13. I believe we will be taking this women to cival court as well, as she almost destroyed our family and I know she's done this to others. Also as far as that church I don't know why so many are blinded. They don't wear Amish clothing and nor do they look amish, because they're not. But they've done what they've done, hurt who they've hurt, they still go to church there and they still stand behind the pulpit. I think a slap on the hand punishment has gone on to long and this problem will continue to grow if the perpatrators don't get punished for this sick crime against a child. Right now how it stands they know they can pretty much get away with it.
