I have noticed a few SUV's around town, all belonging to the city. It is nice to see my tax dollars going to fuel efficient vehicles. Have you seen the gas prices,$3.59 a gallon....I guess when the purchase of fuel is not coming out of your own pocket, what does it matter, right? This town really needs to get their priorities straightened out. You wonder why people are fleeing this town and businesses can barely hold on.

Plus they get to drive them home. So how long will it be before the city has to buy more new SUV's? If people want change their chance is coming and if they don't vote and they keep this same bunch down at City hall It's the tax payers of Marshfield's own fault!Doesn't people think it's odd how the same bunch stays in and just swap chairs ?Please I'm asking the people MARSHFILED to get on board and vote and make change happen. It's got to . We are losing our town that a lot of us was raised here , our roots are here and we have let this bunch down at city hall take over this town.People need to go to the city hall meetings and just see how people are treated. We need change and if it doesn't happen this time, it won't for along time. So if you don't like the way things are VOTE. Tell your friends and family to vote. If your one of the ones that doesn't like whats going and know some of the things that have gone on in this town . Vote. Only the people in this town can get it back. So do you want your town back or leave it to the ones that have made a total mess of things? YOU DECIDE!

This was all hashed out when they first got the SUV's and like a responsible citizen I went and checked it out. In actuality, not only were these SUV's cheaper to purchase (as they are bought on a state-bid price for police rather then normal dealer prices) they are also cheaper in gas than the crown vics they had before. If you know anything about Chevy, you know they run on 4 cylinders when not in heavy use. Also, crown Vic's are no longer available for police use as of the end of 2011, so instead of getting on here whining and crying, check your facts. Also, if you ever get out of Marshfield you will see that Seymour, Highway Patrol, Willow Springs, Nixa, Greene County, Springfield, and several other agencies are going to them. So I, as an informed Citizen, would like to thank the city for SAVING my tax dollars.

no they don't. And even if the employees did that wouldn't be any different than the highway patrol or other agencies around who do get to take cars home. your not complaining about them.

The state keeps mileage logs and maintance logs on their vehicles. Thats the reason I didn't complain about the state . Least someone would know who was using what, when and where. At one time City HALL was to get mileage sheets turned in on how many miles was put on the each city vehicle but I'd really be surprized if they kept that going very long . YES, THEY QUIT USING THE CROWN VICS because they had been hit and some officers lost their lives from the vehicle being hit. They blew up because of the gas tanks.. So GET THE FACTS I may know a little more then you think! But seems like you know the facts . How much is spent on the vehicles that are driven home? How many extra oil changes and what ever else is needed is spent? By the way how many times have these vehicles have had to be driven because they were needed right away? That was the whole purpose of two of them driven home. Who pays for the vehicle to be clean. Right after the city bought the first SUV it was so dirty you couldn't even see in the windows. They are getting better keeping them cleaner. Who pays for all that? And sorry LEAVE I'm not going any place .ADEMEK I'm not crying about anything. It almost sounds like you are the same person that's used different names . THE PEOPLE OF MARSHFIELD NEED TO GET THEIR TOWN BACK AND STOP ALOT OF THIS STUFF THAT SOME PEOPLE DON'T KNOW ABOUT AND SOME PROBABLY DON'T CARE. VOTE.....VOTE.......VOTE!

No THEY DON'T . Sorry I left you out. Yes there are vehicles driven home by city employees who live several miles outside of the city. State vehicles have maintance logs kept on them. The city was to have logs but who knows if they kept that up? Wouldn't you like to know the up keep on these vehicles? Where you and everyone else's money is going? Most people drive their own vehicles to work. This was so they could respond quicker. How many times have they had to respond?

FYI, didn't say you were "crying" about anything. Simply said that I appreciated someone taking it upon themself to be educated. My reply wasn't addressed to you, in the first place. Also, what would be the point of changing my screen name? It's anonymous anyway.. remember that next time you change yours to back yourself up multiple times.

There again, not all employees drive the city vehicles home.. Yes Chief Fannen drives his home however he is on call 24/7. I don't see him going to the store in his police vehicle. Surprisingly the police log mileage for every shift as is practice for almost every police agency in s.w. mo. seeing how the main function of police officers is actually crime prevention and not arrest which is done by driving around ( that's called patrolling the city). I know my tax dollars are going to crime prevention rather than the defense of a person who needs a public defender because a law was broken. Ill be honest I don't know how many times the people like Chief Fannen have been called out. I just pray its not me he is called out to help or any other citizen that is being threatened by crime in marshfield.

Yes! you are right , cheif Fannen has driven his city vehicle to his past home and now to his burned out home on Pleasant Hill road in Diggins about 4 times a day for his entire time as chief from |Marshfield. Good cost of city money.
Really?

Are you stalking him that you could possibly know this!? The city requires the officers who take vehicles home to keep a daily mileage log, so he couldn't get away with that if he tried, so you may want to try, yet again, another lie, or should we call it what it is.....SLANDER AND LIBEL!! Careful Cook's....go back to drinking your alcohol before you find yourselves in more legal trouble than you can handle!

This is such an obvious lie. I was at the City Council meeting last Thursday, to which I go quite regularly, and I have never in my time here seen such support for one person. Chief Fannen not only presented, but has implemented, some very good money-saving ideas for the city; the only person who has so far that I have seen. I highly doubt that someone who took the initiative to start cutting budgets in some very important areas before he was told to would waste money like that. With the way crime is rising these days, I for one am unhappy that the police department has to cut anything, especially something as important as training, but I am thankful he is attempting to save. If you do not believe me, watch the paper this week; unlike you, I will have proof of the truth of my statements. If you ever talked to Chief Fannen or listened to him in the city meetings, he explains very well and to my satisfaction, at least, the reason for taking the vehicles home. I was originally against this, as well, but I do actually see the need for it. Do you realize what liability the city would be under if an on-call officer drove a personal vehicle to a call and was in an accident or couldn't get to said call in time? Like I said, I do not believe that comment about him one bit; someone has a personal problem, probably someone who was on the wrong side of the law. Chief Fannen is very well respected, as I saw Thursday night, and he has earned that respect by being a great leader for our police department.
