Fire Destroys Former Railroad Station In Poconos

This is sad, I loved that place, good food, fun atmosphere. I hope they rebuild - thank God no one was injured.

It is sad to see the station destroyed as I used to work for the DL&W, Erie Lackawanna railroad and passed it many times during my career on this once fine railroad. I worked in engine service both passenger and freight between Hoboken,NJ. and Scranton. my friend (Erwin Flynn, who lives in Stroudsburg) and I had lunch in the station in 2006 when I was visiting the area.The Poconos just lost a piece of railroad history. Where are the new passenger trains going to stop at on their way to Binghampton . probably a lean to or something like that. Sad to be sure. Too bad the old station wasn't converted to a library or a museum.

I ate there, it was very good. I do find the timing a coincidence. It wasn't too long ago that the Pocono Playhouse burned down. Hmm.

Hopefully there is Insurance on this place, they need to get a roof up as soon as possible and the town will need to decide how bad they want to save this Historical Site. New passenger trains, ahhh I doubt that will ever happen anytime soon, but this needs to be saved even as a museum or center of the community.
Oh where are our state representatives now?

We had lunch there last Saturday....rode the excursion from Steamtown to East Burg.
