I hear ya!!!! Can't understand how people can afford to gamble anyhow. Since unemployment is so high and more people lossing their jobs.

The people WANT this Casino. Those that don't should stop trying to dictate to the rest of us what we can or cannot have. This is a FREE country. If they don't want it, just don't go there. Geez, these goofballs just never give up do they ?

The Michigan Works offices are going to get mobbed!!

I think its great to have one closer and cant wait for the casino to open in wayland also. Hell i might even see about getting a job at the one in wayland. Cause there is anywhere else that hiring and paying an ok wage

What i'm wondering is why the state doesn't give some of thoose people standing in line jobs to answer phones at the unemployment office? I'm sure at least 30% of them were office workers.

I really don't think we need more casinos sucking the meager savings out of people but the greater argument is, if my math is correct, that 1500 jobs means all or nearly all will be part time, low paying, with no future or benefits. This Casino has missed the boom disposable income is a thing of the past in this economic climate. But Good Luck all the same

I agree, times are tight but people still have money to spend on this? It seems better for now to bank it in case of even worse times. But you have to see that sometimes people just want a lift and a way to get out and enjoy at least something. i guess if you are doing it for entertainment, but its hard to justify that in these times. And you hear of some casinos in MI that are cutting back right now. Kind of hard to know what to believe.

No worse going to a casino than gambling with your 401K.
At least if you go to a casino and loose you get some enjoyment out of it and you know where your money went unlike you 401K it just disappears into thin air.

There's a job for everyone. I can't work there, too long of a commute.
If it brings others sastifaction to work and play then so be it. Right now we need every little help we can get.

As an addendum to my previous post. Keep in mind that many casinos in Michigan, ie Soaring Eagle, Little River, Turtle Creek, Odawa have laid off hundreds and hundreds of people already. So how long are these new jobs going to last. It's just plain silly to open another one, but, the money is already spent so they have no choice.

That casino better open soon so all the people that got their early income tax return loans have a place to lose it.

......well, if they're working, at least they won't be out killing each other......right? think about it.

I agree Tom, things are getting so bad. I don't
my neighbors looking across to me waiting for me to be gone a few hours. If this hard times keep up
eventually the person to person crimes will increase.

Actually once you factor the dealers, food and beverage service, security, hotel(?), cleaning staff etc a lot of these are full time positions. Not to mention the construction companies involved. This will have an impact.
One thing to remember, if you work at the casino you can not gamble at that casino.
