Personally, I'm not vaccinating my children for H1N1 this year. Yes, it's scary as a parent to hear about all the kids who have died as a result of this virus, it's also scary to think about the proposition of my child being permanently disabled as a result of the vaccine - it's happened before. Plus, for all the media reports of 22 fatal cases in a week, you don't hear the reports of the thousands of children who have gotten H1N1 and recovered. BUT, listen up Health Department. While the public certainly appreciates your efforts, why not think outside the box to make these events more successful? First, PRE-SCREEN. Have people come into your office prior to the event just to verify their status as one of the priority groups. Give them a hospital style wristband to wear until the actual event, and have an "express lane" set up to vaccinate those who have already pre-screened. Second, DRIVE-THROUGH. Take the lead from other communities that have set up drive-through vaccination clinics - you could even set it up so that only those who have pre-screened could take part in the drive-through clinic. These types of steps would make sure that the event is as effective, efficient, and minimally stressful on all of us - including you.

It's a joke, everyone shows up, stands in line then gets sent home.

There is not enough vaccine for H1N1 and there is not enough for the regular flu shot.

A huge FAIL by our government.

Don't plan to stand around a lot of people so i can end up getting sick.
Have to wonder

Think Outside the Box, you offer a good plan -- too bad you aren't in charge of H1N1 vaccine distribution.

I'm sixty eight years old a heart patient, diabetic and asthmatic and people in control are saying if your are 65 and up just go ahead and die. I wonder how they will feel when they reach 64 plus years?

Well one thing they failed to tell anyone about "vacination blitz" was that you had to make an appointment with the health department in advance! I lost a days wages to take 3 children to a county clinic, were we stood in line about 30 min. before someone came out and announced they were taking appointments only. They did not have shots for anyone else. So since I took the day off we traveled to the next county to stand in a line that went down two sides of the building. When getting to the counter we were asked if we had an appointment! This event was reported on TV and radio as an open clinic, or at least open to some.......... not! Well probably won't be able to take another saterday off!

Daily Horoscope for December 22

Sagittarius

Be careful about what you eat and drink today, my prancing Archer. Your body is in a sensitive state, so be well advised and steer clear of anything that might upset you, or to which you're sometimes allergic. Avoid anyone who's a one-man germ factory, in case a few bugs happen to jump out and over to you. Right now, you could do without it.
