What do you think of the hospital and the one's that run it? How are they doing?

Their alot better now than they were a few years ago.Still would go elsewhere for something serious.It has alot to do with who your Dr. is.

Some of our doctor's are not happy with the people working . They feel they are ignorant.

They want their money before you can fiqure out what the insurance will pay. I got one statement before I got the insurance claim back, so I made a payment knowing I would be responsible for some of it. On the next statement they wanted to turn it in to a collection agency. ( scare tactic I know). the hospital will never have a good reputation no matter what they do.

The hospital sucks!! People in the lab are very rude, especially some woman named Theresa, a total bitch!

I won't name any names. But anyway, I can't stand their billing system. It's like the payment, even when on time, you get a collectors letter threatening you. I wish there was some way to take it to court and fight. It would be different if the payments were late or you couldn't make a payment. I can't stand how that place is ran. I know not everyone has trouble with this but I also know alot who have.

Very true, same experience here, if you notice the "collection agency threat" is preprinted on their statement. Like you said, you can make payments, but that's not good enough. Their Billing process is the pits. I don't want to ever have anymore dealings with them.

Me either. It is a shame you would have to travel in pain or any illness to go to a place that isn't going to threaten you almost as fast as you get treated. I really hate it for the elderly because they do fear of losing everything. Too bad nothing can be done about it that would make a significant difference.

I don't understand a lot of the griping about the hospital. I had surgery early in the year and had to stay overnight. Everyone was very nice to me and my treatment was great. We have a wonderful urologist in Dr. Sacknoff who came here after practicing 29 years in Boston. My surgery went faster and my stay was far shorter than the information I found on the internet suggested. There was no problem at all with the billing.

I also had to have physical therapy a couple of months ago due to an irritated sciatic nerve. Trish was my therapist and she figured out quickly that the problem was more serious than suspected. She quickly got the ball rolling for me to have my back problem corrected. The hospital did X-Rays and an MRI that were good enough that Dr Brasfield could do surgery with no more needed. No billing problems. The billing is done through Mountain States Health Alliance now. The billing system prior to Mountain States was a disaster and was never accurate.

I agree with Happy customer Dr.Sacknoff and his patner are great.i don't have to go all the way to UVA.I was at 3 other Dr. before Uva and Sacknoff told me alot more about my condition than any of the others.Had surgery in march everything went great.The hospital staff was great.Would recommend them to anyone.

The physical therapy department is wonderful. I also had therapy there last year and everyone was really nice and seemed to help me.

Wouldn't take my dog up there.

I just don't like the billing threats. But as far as care for the patients, I have always had easy going and caring nurses and doctors. I had an ATV accident and it took a long time to get my xrays because I couldn't hardly move. They were so patient and understanding. And after that I had to go the Wellness Center for physical theropy. It was wonderful. I was sad that my sessions had ended. They are caring also. Now there are people in my family that have not been treated as well. But I guess there is good and bad everywhere you go. I just don't like how they send your bill over to collectors so quickly.

The hospital just cut staff hours once again. They now only have 2 nurses per floor if there are less than 13 patients on that floor. If you think it was bad before... try it now. Not enough nurses to properly attend to the patients needs. The problems I see are with Hospital Management, not those who work on the floors.

I agree with you Chuck! What makes me so mad is the hospital's campaign slogan is Bringing loving care to healthcare, I think they need to rethink that one!! I am just sorry to all the innocent hospital employees who are suffering from the hospital's poor decisions!! Especially getting their hours cut right here at the holidays.

If the hospital is one million dollars in debt, they think the employees can get them out of debt, then cut their jobs? What in this world will they think of next? I am shocked that this hospital even has a slogan. I am thankful for having a hospital in this town, but, the way things are looking, we may not have one much longer.

Mountain States Health Alliance announced that they have a big announcement for SCCH in 30-60 days. It makes you wonder what it could be? They already announced they were building a new hospital here. It would not surprise me if they tried to close this one. Mountain States is so focused on Abingdon. They are planning to build our hospital to be small and not hold as many patients. I just hope it is a good announcement.

Just curious, where did you hear this? Couldn't find anything on the MSHA website.
