Sex abuse allegations against a New Manna employee have police saying they fear there could be more victims.

Investigative Sgt. Rick Gutierrez of the Marion Police Department charged Michael Eugene Pearson, 30, of 7th Street in Marion with four counts of statutory sex offense, two counts of taking indecent liberties with a child and one count of statutory rape. He was taken into custody in lieu of a $350,000 bond.

The alleged offenses occurred from October 2008 to May 2009. The victim, who was 15 at the time, was a relative of Pearsonís, according to Gutierrez.

The suspect was involved with both New Manna Baptist Church and New Manna Christian Academy and worked full time as the bus director, the detective stated. Since the allegations surfaced, he is no longer employed there.

However, the sergeant added, because Pearson came in contact with juveniles almost daily, he fears there might be other victims who havenít come forward.

If any other establishment in town had as many allegations against it as New Manna they would have already be shut down and this is what should be done here.I know there are perverts everywhere but they seem to congregate at New Manna.

It sounds like to me both parties enjoyed the interactions. If this 15 year old didn't enjoy the encounter why did it continue. A teenager knows when to say no or report to official. Were the parents aware of where the teen was during these events. Does parents even keep us with their kids. Did they pay attention of how she was acting (normal, happy, withdrawn from family or activities)?

Are you delirious? According to the law it doesn't matter if she enjoyed it or not. He was 13 years older than her and she was a minor. Can you say JAILBAIT? You nor anyone else knows the reason why she didn't tell but she probably had a good reason. The news said she didn't want to ruin her sister's marriage and hurt her family. What she did or didn't do is irrelevant. She was a child by law and as such will be protected by the law.

I know this family and my prayers are with them, but I think the 15 yr old is just as guilty, yea what he did was wrong but I dont think she objected!!! She lived with him and his wife and acted perfectly fine and normal, you can check her FB page and tell she is wild, he must have made her mad then she decides to tell! I think if a 15 yr old didnt want to do something I believe they could get out of doing it. I truly think theres ALOT more to the story than what we know. And as for more alligations with other kids.....I truly doubt it Michael Pearson is a great guy I just think he put himself in the wrong position!

No I am far from delirious. I am sure the sister's marriage is ruined by now. But two years later let me tell everyone that i have been messing around with my sisters husband and we all go to church and we all keep it in the family. This is just a weird story and I am sure Mr. Pearson was not the only one obtaining pleasure from it. Remember the golden saying "AGE IS ONLY A NUMBER". Especially to the Castle Lights.

I know BOTH families and I am not a Castle Light...whatever that is.

To In The Know: Pearson might be all the wonderful things you think he is, but he may also be a child rapist. Will you continue to sing his praises if he's convicted? I hear he's already confessed.

What don't you tell us why you think what's on her FB page suggests that she's wild? I don't see a thing there that would lead to that conclusion. Please clarify your ridiculous assumption.

Whether this girl is wild or not is not relevant, She is A minor and he is an adult in A authority position. so anyway you look at it its rape and he should be punished. if this was your daughter you wouldnt be praying for him and his family. You would be trying to get justice.

This is uneducated stupidity. If this was your daughter you wouldnt make such comments as both parties enjoyed it. This young lady is 15 I dont know her or who she is but she is still A minor and he is an adult and authority figure so its his job to protect her not to take advantage of her. When people are raped or molested they are reluctant to tell others because they think no one will believe them and alot of times they are correct. Dont try to lay the blame on the parents and educate yourself alittle more before you make comments about rape victims. P.S. If this is WWJD then I dont think he is as loving, compasionate and almighty as christians think.

It's not WWJD. I will say this, if Pearson is truly repentant for what he's done (assuming guilt), Jesus is faithful and just to forgive him. Christians should forgive him too if he repents before the church according to the Bible. That is sometimes easier said than done. It would be hard if that were my child. Only God knows Michael's heart. That does not excuse him from the penalty of law and he has a right to a fair trial. Anyone who thinks this 15 year old child somehow was responsible for what happened to her is ignorant beyond belief. And a little brainwashed thrown in for good measure.

When I was 14, I, too, entered into a sexual relationship with an adult. Although it was consensual, looking back, I realize that the adult groomed and manipulated me into that relationship.

It doesn't matter that this young girl consented to this relationship. Pearson, the ADULT, took advantage of that child. No adult has any business having a sexual relationship with a child, no matter how mature or how willing that child is. A 15 year old is not old enough to know what she wants nor old enough to make sound decisions, even if she thinks she is.

no she was not perfectly normal. She hated him because he would never let her out of the house without him, wouldnt let her talk to boys at school and would get mad at her if she talked to her girlfriends about a boy. He is a sick man and needs to be punished for what happened and not defended. I have heard several people say they had an idea that something was going on by the way she acted around him. She was scared of him and loved her sister at the same time.Atlease she had the guts to come forward now, maybe she is saving another young girl from being manipulated into the same thing. You people who think its her fault need to grow up and realize that he was the adult and she was the child and should of never had to make that choice.

You must be totaly retarded. You think she wanted what happened to her?- I bet you say the about all the women who have been raped or asaulted by a man. Maybe in your own perverted mind you think that all women want this.- I tell you what... I know her dad pretty well. Now, I dare you to go tell her dad to his face what you have said about her here on this forum.- You will be lucky if he let you live.

Seriously, every time that place starts to live down one incident another one surfaces. The problem is, as it always has been, that something like this happens and they start saying well Jesus forgives them blah blah blah. What is it going to take to wake those people up? Maybe a child raped and murdered? DEAR JESUS!!!! Danny, Zullo, Pearson, I'm sure there are others... I promise you if it had ever been my child they wouldn't have to worry about WWJD, they better worry about what I would do - they would be going to meet their maker a lot sooner than they planned. there are a bunch of sickos at that church. If you are a decent somebody you better get out of there before something happens to your family. How could you even let your child go to the bathroom by themself in that place? Every young man in the place thinks they are a preacher ten minutes after they get saved. And if they are a preacher then they must be a good guy that everybody can trust, right? WOW.

The people at that church are all mislead. It's okay to treat your wife and kids badly, and it's okay to drink because hey, Jesus forgives!! I just feel really bad for all the women and children in that congregation that live with men that belong in jail.
