A story which was published by marion attorney bernard paul, in october, 2008, says the new county administration building (already under construction) and new jail under consideration, won't cost taxpayers anything.
Last week however, brent gentry was on the television newscasts proclaiming that the new administration building (which is being constructed WITHOUT COUNTY TAXPAYER VOTE OR BLESSINGS) was going to be paid for with YOUR real estate taxes.
Because opposition to gentry's seat made a tv appearance announcing his cannadicy in the upcoming February elections, gentry had to get his face on the tube, but his ego got in the way of his mouth, when he let it slip that the new admin building and jail were to be paid and operated from YOUR TAX DOLLARS - regardless of gentry's post cards which he mailed out to the public over the summer, stating the new admin building would somehow be free of charge to the taxpayers of the county.
Woops brent… you told a fib, and now you're caught
During gentry's "face time" on the news shows, he then said the new jail was going to be paid for by stimulus dollars… not real estate taxes… again, for a multi-million dollar facility that the public has little or no input, and certainly was never put to a ballot. When the bernie paul story was published in October, 2008, it was told to the citizens of the county that: "It is anticipated that revenues from jail subsidies, fines and fees will be sufficient to cover the costs of the lease-purchase of this building. Both of these new buildings, built at no new costs to the taxpayers, are expected to provide adequate space and facilities for Williamson County government operations for many years to come."
In October, 2008, attorney paul wrote: "Back in April of 1964, the Circuit Judges of the County met with the Williamson County Board of Commissioners and requested a new courthouse be built to replace the 75-year old brick relic on the Square in Marion. The question was placed on the general election ballot,“Should Williamson County establish a Public Building Commission?” in accordance with Illinois law."
"Using their statutory bonding power as a municipal corporation, the Building Commission designed, built and paid for the modern Courthouse which has served our County officials and employees for the past 37 years. Happily, Williamson County has grown so dramatically over the years that the “new” building is now bursting at the seams."
"The current County Board of Commissioners, our County’s executive and legislative branch, has given the “go-ahead” to the Public Building Commission to start an expansion project. The PBC had been far-sighted enough to plan for future expansion and has adequate resources on hand with which to do just that."
"It is projected that the new addition can be built and put into operation AT NO ADDED COSTS to the taxpayers of Williamson County.
"Sheriff Tom Cundiff is also planning to contract for a privately-constructed modern jail to be built on the east side of the Courthouse block. It is anticipated that revenues from jail subsidies, fines and fees will be sufficient to cover the costs of the lease-purchase of this building. Both of these new buildings, built at no new costs to the taxpayers, are expected to provide adequate space and facilities for Williamson County government operations for many years to come."
Isn't that interesting? Something that no one vote for is NOT going to cost us anything. Not a thin dime or red cent, when it comes to Marion's TIFs. That's according to a hot-shot attorney, ron osmend, the city's TIF mouthpiece. Now, yet another in the city's "friends," another attorney, bernie paul, publishes a story about brent gentry's new administration building and jail, saying much the same thing… won't cost us anything?!
in the upcoming elections, perhaps a real donkey or a real elephant could against brent gentry.
They really do eat peanuts and hay.

This just goes with everything else, we dont know anything until its about over and we dont have any say so in anything much. I still hate that we are under home rule, the Mayor and council have to much power to do as they please and now we have alot of proof from it.

We need a big change in Marion, but to many people are set in that things are going good and all is ok. Marion needs to wake up and do something and not just sit around complaining about things. We all know that we are going to to pay for things done, the money comes from tax dollars we paid, who are they kidding here....haha.

Daily Horoscope for December 29

Libra

An emotional situation is as clear as mud today. You aren't sure about your feelings for a certain someone, nor are you convinced that you know what they're playing at. They may be saying one thing and doing another, and you might even suspect that they're playing games with you or trying to get what they can out of the relationship. Or maybe you're imagining the whole thing? Admit it - at this stage you simply don't know.
