Driver, passenger identified in Forest Lake fatal crash

I noticed some of the comments on the other thread about this crash, I would ask the sister of the driver, did your brother have any health problems that might have led to his crossing the median?

Do you wanna bet this POS kid was texting. I cant tell you how many times a day I see young kids driving and texting. I would like to smash their heads off their cell phone.

No it is not your "choose". How is it a "choose" when they make it a law the you must wear.

This has nothing to do with a seat belt. Seat belts are designed to prevent ejection and jostling inside the care. They also help keep the driver and passenger in a position where all the other built in safety features can have the most impact.

Head on collision at highway speed with a rolling pick up truck, and the occupants of the Toyota Camry didn't have much of a chance. Now who can say what would have happened to the other two if they weren't thrown.

BTW, the deceased are James Holland, 45 years old, and his son, Jude, 4 years old...from Chanhassen.

WCCO reported the driver has now died too!! Passenger of the truck is fine and at home....don't care too much about the careless driver that died, but feel bad for the woman who lost her husband and child due to the careless idiot driver.

Fact - seat belts save lives
Fact - seat belts reduce injuries and severity of injuries
Fact - less injuries reduce cost of medical costs, hospital stays, insurance, litigation, etc., etc.
My sympathy to all those invloved.

Slow it down on the roads. Driving like this will just get you to the next red light faster.

This is almost always true. The man and child in the other car were belted properly and still died however. So sad!

FYI:The MN State Patrol markings on the northbound lanes shows that the 18 year old driver lost control of his pickup truck back some 500 feet or more before he crossed over the center median. He first sideswiped a guardrail on the right shoulder then headed for the median before correcting and heading for the east ditch then corrected and headed straight across the center median and into the Toyota which, those on site said, had its roof sheared off. Seat belts can't save a rolling truck tearing off the roof over the heads of belted in passengers. Quite frankly, I wouldn't wanted to die as I was ejected from a moving car involved in a crash. If that's your choice then go ahead, "Choose"

I will be very interested after the investigation is complete to find out what the pick up driver's speed was. My son was on his way home from "up north" and should have been in that area at the approximate time of accident. He decided to meet a friend for lunch in Duluth and didn't come home until 5. It could have been him or any innocent driver killed along 35 that day. Tonights news said the state patrol are hoping witnesses will come forth, but so far, nothing. How sad for the father and young son to lose their life so violently. My condolences to the wife/mother.

I imagine it's a matter of time until CNN blames W for this...

Seatbelts DO save lives in most accidents, that's a FACT. In this rare case, the CHOOSE the father and son made to buckle up made no difference in saving their lives because seatbelts can't protect the occupants from a 5,000 lb truck that's shearing off the top half of their car. However, had it been the truck drivers CHOOSE to buckle up, he more than likely would've survived (judging by how well the cab of the truck held up). His friend just got REALLY lucky because he was thrown out at just the right angle and landed in the right place at the right time.

This goes to texting teddy, this kid was not a POS, he was a very loving kid and he wouldnt hurt anybody on purpose. So i dont think you have any right to mouth about someone you have no idea about. Yes i feel bad for the other 2's family it was very tragic. but it is over and you need to shut your mouth. THANKS.

picklesnokie. you had no idea who this kid was i dont think u have any right to sit there and mouth. yes it was very tragic and i feel for the mother/wife. you should think before u run your mouth Junior was a very loving boy. he wouldnt hurt a fly and u dont know what happined he was not speeding and he was not being careless. he has now passed on. u should really think before u open your obnoxious mouth of yours. thanks ever so much bye!

Huh. I was thinking an SUV-American would do something like this, but it was a pick-up that committed the crime.

OMG!!! This was an eighteen year old kid who died...what about his Mom and/or family?
