Suburban schools are so paranoid. Don't they have security to stop people from entering?

You don't know what your talking about. I have 3 kids in the Forest Lake schools and one in the High school. They did a perfect job today! Paranoid? Just not use to dirt bags running around like your use to in the cities.

So somebody walks into a Junior High and walks back out and that's all it takes to make him/her a dirtbag and a suspect? How could anyone possibly draw any kind of conclusion at all from this information-less blurb? For all we know, it could have been a parent bringing lunch money for their kid and realizing they forgot their checkbook at home. There just simply aren't any facts at all, other than "somebody" was a "suspect". Merely entering a school makes you a suspect? I'm glad my kids are old enough to be out of school and I don't have to be "suspected" every time I walked into the building.

I can understand locking down the high school if they think he might be inside, but the school district offices? What's the super afraid of?

Mad Viking...I take it you have never been to Forest Lake. The District Office and High School are located on the same plot of land. One of the Jr Highs is across the street.

I commend the staff of the entire district for doing such a great job and for responding so quickly.

Whether we live in the cities or outside of the cities our first concern should be for the safety of our students/children.

Whatever person....get your facts before spouting off. I'd be a little concerned if I tried approaching someone and they wouldn't respond and then take off....especially in a school so early in the morning.

Well, at least the article has been updated (completely rewritten) and it now contains a few relevant facts on which to base an opinion. However an even more substantial case seems to be made for the "over-reaction" crowd. Over 30 officers respond to a situation where no weapons were seen or implied? The staff followed at a safe distance? I wonder if this "man" even knows that somebody wanted to ask him a few questions?

FL Mom, I fail to see where the article says anything about the man ever being approached. It just says that the staff spotted a "suspicious" person, whatever that means. As near as we can tell from this particular article, the "suspect" was oblivious to the fact that he was even a suspect.

No spin, perhaps he was "scummy" looking, at least by your personal standards... or perhaps he wasn't. The arcticle fails to mention if he was a "scum" or a "dirtbag", only that he was "suspicious looking".

You all would be singing a different tune if that man had shot a bunch of people. Then you'd be criticizing the lack of security measures. Funny you can judge anyway, you all seem to have all the answers.

And stillwater is better. Your nuts if you think so. I like all the drunk bikers in the summer taking a piss by the river when ever they want. Sh1tin place stinks to high heaven. O and the punk kids sitting down there smoking pot all day asking for money. Ya nice clean no crime at all. And those so called cops you have there that's a frickin gang it's self. How many have been put in jail or fired in the past few years. Ok then there is what they call in your town METH HILL not sure where it's at, but you might being a meth head and all. Better put the P-Bo kool-aid down and look around.

If the district did their job the person would never been allowed to enter either building. The teacher would have confronted the man right away in the junior high rather than allow him to slip away. I could slightly understand a timid teacher not wanting to be confrontational but that is what security guards and “school resource officers”(school cops) are for. Are there none at Forest Lake? This inner-city dirt bag doesn’t understand.

Daily Horoscope for December 4

Aquarius

It's so easy to deceive yourself in some way today, especially if you allow wishful thinking to get the upper hand. Don't ignore some unpalatable facts, Aquarius, or the situation will be compounded. Are you trying to keep on the right side of someone you admire or respect? Does this mean presenting a false or highly selective image of yourself? I hope not.
