I sure do miss Ralph. Has anyone else noticed the loss of the small town hospitality when you walk by the new owners / kids? Fellas you gotta at least act like you care a little about the people that aint goin to wal mart.

Must say I have a completely different opinion, I average going to McDaniels 3-4 times a week and yet to experience what you have. They have ALWAYS been very nice & helpful. I've seen each of them stocking shelves and carry'n groc. to the vehicles. These guys have alot on their minds, I believe if you speak to them or ask them for help you will see a different side. The customer volume is MANY times greater now than when Ralph was there. There is noway the 1 to 1 customer service can be the same due to numbers. Coarse I have a negative view of Raph so I do respect your view. The "Boys" as you call them are very generious to the community. Their quick to donate to fundraisers, schools, churches and other groups as the needs arise. I must say THANKS to McDaniels for all that they do ,
You might won't to do item for item comparison when dealing with the Dollar stores, I was very suprised, Not near the savings you might think.
been there and done that

The credit deal you're talking about is what the card company's do. It will break a small business and the good people will not always be "good pay."
The seems that you don't understand just how much money you're talking about. A little for you a little for him and a little for her and so on and so on and the next thing you know you are running many thousands of dollars worth of credit and no way to secure the return. Especially with groceries, once they are out the door there is no repossession. Besides xome of the same ones that want the in-house credit are the first to bad mouth your prices and go to the Jr. store to pay cash for the cigs. and beer with their gas. And we know how great their prices are and the credit system. Try running a business with your own money and watching it go out the door with nothing but a hope and trust it's coming back, then let me know how well you're doing in say 6 months. No in 2 to 3 because you wont be in business in 6 unless you are filthy rich and can afford to give money away.

Which one of the sons used to hire cute little gals to be cashiers and then give some of them the chance to "work their way up" by giving him BJs in the store office?

The meat Dept there is great...guys are always helpful. The high school kids working the registers and bagging would just as soon spit on you than speak to you anymore, though.

Not as far as your mom, but then her lack of teeth gave her a distinct advantage. That and the fact that I don't think he was into dudes.

McDaniels always seemed a little more distant than say Joe Bradley's did, back in the day. Joes sat near the front door and greeted everyone who came into the store. He had a public charm about him.

Ralph was a very decent guy, had a great smile and always acknowledged folks he knew.

The boys have to grow into their own roles. The've been helpful and friendly, but not overly. Do not want them fawning over me. I think it takes a lot of work and thought to keep things going well, they are more serious than engaging.

On the meat dept, the guys there are decent but I am not a big fan of the quality of the meat, esp the beef. I think they could do better.

I've nothing but good things to say about McDaniels Grocery and its owners. They've always been friendly and helpful to me and my wife. I've also asked them for donations for some school and civic projects. They've never turned me down. The McDaniels aren't perfect but you won't get near the service or community support from WalMart or Dollar General. We need to give more support to all our homeowned businesses. It's good for the local economy, too.

I think that y'all should try to open a grocery and see how many people want to talk about you on the internet. And if y'all have a problem with the cashiers why not go to the management instead of being immature and posting on the internet.

I have always had nothing but good experiences when shopping at McDaniel's Grocery. The meats are always cut fresh, vegetables and fruits fresh, and employees have always been courteous and helpful. I, however do miss seeing Mr. Ralph and his lovely wife in the store. They were always very friendly and nice!

Last time I bought chicken it smelled like bleach. They bleach the chicken when it's beginning to rot. Also, they are good about putting the hamburger meat that is turning brown in the middle and then put some good meat on top to make it look like you're getting good meat. But as soon as you begin digging into it, you realize that the middle is already turning brown. Most of the staff is nice, but Cody needs to stop being so stingy. He needs to realize that people are really upset at the prices lately. Since Bradley's closed in Chattahoochee, the prices have skyrocketed at McDaniels. He is taking full advantage of people because he thinks that everyone will go to his store since the closing of Bradleys. I guess he doesn't realize that people can drive elsewhere and have been doing so for a while now. It's really a shame that is has come to this.

I use to work in the McDaniel's meat dept. It was the cleanest place I have ever seen. They have really high standards they expect employees to follow. I would eat anything they've got.

Daily Horoscope for May 25

Cancer

Today's Full Moon will have a powerful impact on your health during the next few months. Maybe this is the spur you need to inspire you to take better care of yourself, such as improving your diet, getting more exercise or finally consulting the doctor about something that's worrying you. It will also be the end of a chapter connected with your work, but don't fret because this ending will lead on to a new beginning.
