She's not gone, instead under a "contract"! Board member, Ms. Duffy was the only member concerned of these "contract" employees. Way to go Duffy--- too bad you're retiring. Who is DES? Is this legal? http://www.jacksoncountytimes.net/component/k...

11.5 Contract with DES of Florida, LLC
Contract with DES of Florida, LLC
RECOMMENDATION: Approval of Contract with DES of Florida, LLC
Mrs. Duffee asked what DES represents. Mr. Miller stated this is the company we have used in the past contract
for services. Mrs. Duffee stated we needed to look at not using a company to fill vacant positions. She stated that
the employee knows when they enter the DROP that they are going to leave their employment in five years. She
stated concerns about using a company for employment services. Mrs. Gardner asked why the contract is for 18-
months. Mr. Miller stated he was looking at starting in January and going through the next school year. Mrs.
Gardner stated the legislature is looking at making some changes to the way these types of contracts are handled.
Mr. Griffin stated there is not currently anything that hinders this type of contract. Mr. Bondurant agreed that it is
legal. Mrs. Duffee stated that previously an employee cancelled their DROP participation and re-entered the
DROP at a later date. Mr. Moore stated there are different requirements for teachers than for other types of staff
members regarding eligibility to exit and then re-enter the DROP. Mr. Johnson asked how many principal
candidates we have currently. Mr. Miller stated we have approximately 30 teachers are in the administrative intern
program, but we usually use the assistant principal positions to train personnel for principal positions. Dr. Nichols
stated this is a contract with the company and any recommendation for rehire after retirement using the contract
will still need to be brought to the board for approval. He stated he can see where we might need to use this from
time to time.

Crooked School Board

Wow is all I can say about this. I did some further research on the provided links which do prove to be factual and as a taxpayer in this county, I am in disbelief that the media nor the school board did not disclose this rental contract (sounds like a sofa from Aarons furniture huh) for Mrs. Mary Sue Neves, principal MHS. While researching, I have found some more interesting information for tax payers under this link, which is to a school board meeting.

"12.1 Contract with DES of Florida, LLC
Contract with DES of Florida, LLC
RECOMMENDATION: Approval of Contract with DES of Florida, LLC
Mrs. Duffee stated she does not agree with the need for this contract and that the district has enough current
employees to operate. Superintendent Miller stated this item on the agenda is for a contract with DES of Florida to
be used if we needed to contract employment services in the future. Mr. Griffin asked Mr. Miller if there is anyone
currently employed to take the upcoming vacant position. Mr. Miller stated he would like to consider Mr. Jerome
Wright filling the position after he has a medical release from surgery. Mr. Miller stated that Mr. Wright knows our
equipment and could keep the equipment working for a while longer. Mr. Griffin asked if a retiree has completed
the one year of non-employment with the school district or they are contracted through a company, they would at
that point be hired on a year to year basis as a normal district employee. Mr. Miller agreed with Mr. Griffin's
statement. Dr. Nichols stated the individual person being used through a DES contract would still be presented to
the board on an individual basis for approval. Mr. Miller agreed with Dr. Nichols statement. A board member asked
Mr. Bondurant if he had talked with retirement regarding the contracting of retirees. He stated not recently. Mr.
Miller stated the employee has to obtain clearance through the division of retirement so that there are no issues with
their retirement benefits.

ORIGINAL motion 'Approval of Contract with DES of Florida, LLC'. Upon a roll call vote
being taken, the vote was: Aye: 3 Nay: 2.

Betty Duffee No
Charlotte Gardner No
Chris Johnson Yes
Kenneth Griffin Yes
Terry Nichols Yes

THIS IS COPIED DIRECTLY FROM THE SCHOOL BOARD MINUTES DATED 12-20-2011.

I have some observations on this:
*It appears Mr. Lee Miller and a few others created a plan for Mrs. Neves to snatch her DROP money and go under this "contract" to retain her job. CROOKED!
*It appears this Jerome Wright was an alias for "Mary Sue Neves" when you compare this meeting with the article linked above and here:

http://www.jacksoncountytimes.net/component/k...

I guess Mr. Sid Riley must have heard Mary Sue Neves name instead of this "Jerome Wright".

*It appears that the board worked hard on these minutes to avoid naming Mrs. Neves, as the target for this "contract"

*LASTLY, AND I'M CAPITALIZING ON PURPOSE, BECAUSE IT DISGUSTS ME THAT LEE MILLER HAD THE NERVE TO THINK NOONE IN THIS COUNTY COULD BE A PRINCIPAL. I GUESS MR. MILLER THINKS YOU HAVE TO BE IN THIS COUNTY TO APPLY. WAS THIS JOB EVER POSTED? NOPE, AND MILLER'S WIFE, MRS NEVES GOT THAT MONEY, PLASTIC SURGERY, ETC, WHILE STILL SITTING ON HER PERCH AT THE HIGH SCHOOL.

CROOKED A@# SCHOOL BOARD, SHAME ON YOU.

HOORAY FOR GARDNER AND DUFFEE WHO VOTED NO ON THIS CROOKED SETUP PLAN TO BENEFIT NEVES AND WHOEVER ELSE GOT PAID OFF.

TAXPAYERS, DEMAND TO SEE THE SALARY OF YOUR RENT A PRINCIPAL! NOW MILLER WILL SLIDE HER BACK IN UNDER THAT JOB OPENING FOR A REAL JCSB PRINCIPAL.
SIGNED :DISGUSTED TAXPAYER WHO CAN'T SLEEP THINKING BOUT THE DISHONEST MEMBERS OF OUR SCHOOL BOARD.

THANK YOU GARDNER AND DUFFEE FOR DOING THE LEGAL THING. SORRY YOU WERE OVERRULED BY THE SHARKS.

Just for the record, Mrs. Neves retirement date is June 30, 2012. She is not on any contract with the Jackson County School Board or any other agency. She is a regular employee. The School Board has advertised the principal position and interviewing applicants.

DROP can be extended 2 years for school district personnel, including the principals.

If someone actually thinks there is malfeasance, then contact the division of retirement and make a formal complaint.

That'll fix any REAL problem, for sure!
