Guest, Marianna was great before the Boycot in the early 1970s.There used to be a Dairy Queen even (where KFC is now)plus a TaysteeFreeze and a few other icecream places. Lots of places to eat anything from hamburgers to steaks. Most of the stores on POplar Street were full. Great places to buy clothes were Dooley's and Strausberg's. Plus there were 2 Ronny's, a Sterlings and ten other stores of that type. There were 3 drugstores , 4 supermarkets, several Chinaman stores, 3 jewelery stores, 4 barbershops, 6 beautyshops, a Ford place, a Chevy place, a Dodge place and a Pontiac place. There was a Hotel Marianna and 3 motels. There were girl scouts and boy scouts and the churches had lots of activities for families. There were great Christmas parades and Bear Creek Lake was open for swimming and there were big celebrations there on 4th of July. It was fun to live in Marianna when I was younger.

Marianna use to been a great place until racist blacks (I say not all blacks) came in control of the town. When racist blacks started to enter into city government the town simply went to hell. Damn liberals cause it to fall to hell. As you see, when racist blacks come in control a town is destroyed. Mayor Taylor is one of those evil liberal black racist.

[I do recall all of those things but after Robert Taylor got in as Mayor and Millie Hill, Mattir Allison, OL, all of them did what they could to fill they pockets they did not care about Marianna. Sammie Blunt was dirty still dirty, Vincent Bell is as dirty as police come, Carl McCree worse, Jimmy Williams needs to fire them right out as soon as he takes office. Steve Edwards has blocked so many business from coming to our town, People need to black ball Food Giant and not buy from him anymore and go to Helena or some where but there. Yes so many stores on Poplar back in the days and I use to love the shoe store, I'm sorry but the black public officals that have been in office for so long have messed this town up. The police department is so dirty they do not put no one in jail that is to be locked up, if you steel McCree gets them out, you break in he gets them out, if you kill someone he gets them out of town, It is time for a real change in Marianna. I hope this new man does his job and cleans up the mess from Taylor.
Bear Creek was nice place, town use to have so many places and money was in town, people worked in town. They need to bring the Hospital back and open jobs for people. That home health care stuff those ladies go sit for two hours and they gone, they do nothing.

Man I was born in Marianna it was popping years ago, but you right the white men in town would not allow no new busin, all they wanted was the money, they would not do nothing, the motels was so nasty who would stay in them, the one those arab own is nasty then hell, and all the chianamen stores closed up, man they use to have some great bacon by joes. I remember when we would come home you could find your guys at Bruce's or Kathrines, Willie Hibbler always tried having a joint but he would sell his mama out. He has and will always be a snicth. As now no one goes home nothing there.
