Really? they are serving a warrant to a rapist who then draws a gun, and you think the cops are at fault? God bless them for doing a difficult job that few are willing to do, at great risk to themselves. The world is a better place for what they do. I'm sure the 14 year old girl who was raped can attest to the fact that the person they were serving the warrant to wasn't a 'nice, kind hearted guy' who wouldn't ever hurt a cop.

A rape was reported--the suspect was armed--although you say in the shower in another post--and the bad old cops had no right to do what they did? What kind of an idiot are you? Your cowardly friend took the easy way out--if he was innocent, why did he put a bullet in his own head?Get real.

No, it's like shooting the guy who took the hostages.

When the police have a search warrant, they do not have to wait for you to decide to go ahead and open a door. If you don't open it, whether it's a bedroom or a bathroom or whatever, they are SUPPOSED to break it open, because you could be destroying the evidence they came for. They don't have to negotiate with the person, and they SHOULD not negotiate. That's just the law. A search warrant means they had enough evidence to convince a judge that they should go in and look for something WITHOUT the permission of the accused.

Anyone in this country old enough to watch TV, and especially anyone who is old enough to vote, knows that you don't grab a gun when the cops are searching your house, or trying to arrest you. Everyone knows what is probably going to happen if you do--someone is getting shot. Never mind whether he was planning to use it on the cops or himself (he probably did mean to shoot himself, not them), they are not trained in psychic abilities at the police academy. They cannot read his mind to know what he is planning.

If the cops have a warrant, and have to break down the door to get into where you are, and you are holding a gun, you should expect you will get shot. Maybe he didn't think about that, but not thinking can get you killed sometimes.

Add to this that the police were searching for evidence in a rape case. Here, it doesn't matter whether the girl made the whole thing up or whether he raped her at gunpoint. Either way, it's a rape case. That means they're dealing with a potential felon, and have to be on their guard.

This shooting was not punishment by the cops for his being accused of rape. It was a reaction to his actions in that situation.

You guys who post comments here and on the other story about this case: If you are told that the police are serving a search warrant in connection with a possible rape, that the suspect has locked himself in the bedroom (or bathroom, it doesn't matter which), and won't open the door, and the cops have to force it, and then see him holding a gun, what will you say?

I know what you'd say if this was a movie or TV show. You'd say the same thing if it wasn't someone you knew and believed was innocent of the underlying crime.

This alleged rapist, should be given the benefit of the doubt. for the very fact, that no one knows what happened? But God, this young man, and the victim!
let him R.I.P. now. PLEASE HAVE A HEART n give this family what they deserve. Time to grieve for their great loss, and the time to heal. This family needs the time to come to terms with this tragedy! THEY NEED OUR PRAYERS! not cold, or ignorant judgements! For the record., I don't know this family, in any way, on either side. Just wanted to share my thoughts.

I don't understand why you would call the cops retarded in this situation. The guy reached for a gun so the cops had every right to protect themselves. I see nothing wrong in what they did.

And in my opinion, the guy wouldn't of shot himself if he weren't guilty of something!

I assume you are saying they knew each other. A rapist can know his victim. It's called date rape.
It's still rape.

If the young man did indeed pull a gun, then yes, they did have to shoot him.

Then why mention that he knew her? Irrelevant.
And yes, they had to shoot the "boy" (18=adult) if he pulled a gun.
