Spring at roadside, route 79

I've been stopping at this spring for years. What's the story behind it?

Where is the spring? I live in Binghamton and I'd be interested in getting some fresh water.

i do not believe it is a spring it is a drilled well.

it is not a drilled well... it is a pipe pounded into the rock. more like an artisian well. the water is delicous! lots of people stop and get the fresh cold water. better than anything you can buy!

It definitely is a drilled well and it tastes very much like pond water. Anyone needing info on it just call Lisle, NY town hall i am not allowed to post their phone number according to this blog rules.

It's a spring...no well can run continuously without effecting the water table for the surrounding area. Not all springs are potable...not all springs have tasty water. It depends on surroundings, mineral content, source, pollutants, etc.
Find-a-spring lists it as untested.
Coldclimategardening sez:

Coldclimategardening claims they only wash clothes with it.
Has anyone tested the water?
With sulfur/iron well water, drinking water is purchased at my house despite the $2000+ water softening/filter system working overtime! Suposed to be safe but tastes bad! I'd love to find a source of tasty potable water!

I live down the road and know for a fact that the water at the 79 spring is tested.

Fresh, cold, and very tasty. Definitely from a spring.
