Polar Cronyism wrote: have the meter tie into the phone and dial in once a month... Google "radio water meters" and there is a ton of info on many different products. I suspect they offer battery/capaciter powered units charges off the flow of water through the meter. The units the Met Council uses arn't hooked to the phone and are radio reporting units. Again North Saint Paul Mayor Mike Kuehn works for the Met Council and the Met Council uses radio reporting water meters and North Saint Paul is using centuries old human read water meters. Go figure, makes no sense at all. Something very rotten in North Saint Paul, in addition to the City Manager being incompetant.

Buffalo did it right
Minneapolis, MN

The following is what Buffalo did to provide internet service to the town. http://www.bwig.net/aboutus.htm Note they didn't waste a lot of money on fiber to each house. Instead they ran fiber to high end users and homes are supported with wireless infrastructure. They also offer town wide WIFI. Anyone buying into fiber to every home is an indication of ignorance of the marketplace. In the case of Hiawatha Broadband Inc.(HBC), they understand what they offer cannot be done without someone else's cash. IF fiber to every house in a town were a great idea HBC would step up and install fiber in a town. HBC will not man-up and do it like any other private company but instead rely on town leaders to abscond with residents cash to fund their phony fiber deal.

Xcel is giving rebates for CFL and LED lightbulbs. CFLs are $1 each and LEDs are $10 off. Why doesn't North Saint Paul power offer rebates?

NEWS RELEASE---North Saint Paul will be charging a monthly fee April 1, 2012 for the sewer that the city uses. Just like the street light fee, it's only fair. There will be a toilet ribbon cutting ceremony by the Christian hypocrite EDA KIM ANN with other local dignitaries like MIKE KUEHN being at the site of the City Hall crapper. Each person will be taking a symbolic crap for the local SHITTTTY news paper and written up by the managing ARS editor, how apropos. Also present will be the local busy bodies and loud mouth phonies like LINDA and DAVE ZICK to bloviate about how great they are.

Unable to live within his means. Trying to raise taxes in NSP is like trying to polish a turd. Face the TRUTH Mike, the Indian Reservation is SMALL HOUSES, the south central part of NSP is made of SMALL HOUSES. The remainder is made up of OLD HOUSES with some pockets of MODERATE SIZED HOUSES. The appropriate action to take is reduce the City budget which would be real easy.

Mike will never accept reducing taxes to be comparable with other old small towns like Willernie, Landfall, Little Canada, White Bear Lake. Mike insists on selling NSP as a first ring suburb when NSP doesn't even contact St Paul. There is NO WAY NSP is a first ring suburb!! In fact NSP is 10 miles from downtown St Paul.

North St. Paul is landlord / tenant slum with a few decent houses mixed in. Why on earth would some one move here? Well I guess when the house prices get down to $10,000, then the Taco Johns workers can apply for loan. Best thing to do is merge into Maplewood and be done with it.

Long time Senator Wiger has moved to Maplewood. i think he has seen the light and realizes North Saint Paul AND Maplewood will be merged in the near future. Maplewood operates using best practices in many ways. North Saint Paul is filthy with wall to wall waste. Examples are many but the bottom line is North Saint Paul has way to many idle hours for it's management to waste MILLIONS on stupid arse projects like Polarnet. If that one project had been voted yes by residents the town would be a total mess today. That project would have cost $34,000,000 and current trends are to use wireless interset access as well as wireless phones and TV broadcast. North Saint Paul and Maplewood WILL BE MERGED SOON and Senator Wiger will be the one to instigate the action. Thanks Chuck!!

Plus it's right next to the Gateway Trail which will provide a constant flow of gamblers to a casino. Bikers park in the new parking lot and now shop in North Saint Paul, the town has seen a resurgence of activity. All needed is a Casino with hotel to spruce up the old Ancor site. And what an addition to North Saint Paul with a new crematorium going up on the Tap and Grill site, people will be dieing to get to North Saint Paul!! Who is delusional now??

Sounds like a plan to me. A casino and a hotel on McKnight road. People going to funerals would stay at the hotel, do people attend creations?

Why isn't ALL the property owned by the City of North Saint Paul "For Sale"? Anyone with property should at least have a "For Sale" sign on what they own in order to sell it and get it on the tax roles, shouldn't they? Isn't North Saint Paul interested in getting as much tax revenue as possible? Why wouldn't they be interested? What is their motive?

More Monticello BAD NEWS

http://www.monticellotimes.com/articles/2012/... Now customers are leaving the Fiber Net Monticello network. I thought Fiber was so wonderful?? Must not be. The City of Monticello is irritated because of predatory priceing. However the the City of Monticello is also using predatory priceing to sell their product. Hey Monticello ya can't have it both ways. Either admit you are also predatory priceing your product or quit complaning your competition is. BTW, the CEO of Hiawatha Broadband Communications (HBC) was pimping his product at the State Legislature. You know the importance of Broadband cannot be overstated. Of course the Legislature is eating up his BS!! Something very wrong is going on in Minnesota.
