Obama insists no shift on Iraq

Barack Obama struggled Thursday to explain his plan to end the war in Iraq, calling a rare do-over news conference to insist that he was not softening his campaign pledge to withdraw all combat troops within 16 ...

Why is the Chicago Tribune taking a page out of the Los Angeles Times. I just commented on the LA Times lying news report and now I see my home town Chicago newpaper taking the fib report as their own.

Shame Tribune, shame. Why don't you just put the video of the press report Obama gave yesterday debunking the rumors, and let the people decide.

John McBush is as big a flip flopper as Obama at this point. Both men are courting independent voters and trying to tag one with that label without tagging the other is just dishonest. For the most part the MSM has given McBush a free pass while hanging onto every word Obama says.

Too many are caught up in a party affiliation. What I can't figure out is this. Americans should vote for the candidate who can best allow them to support their family, pay the bills, live free, etc.

If you do true UNBIASED research into what the platforms are for these too candidates you will find the following:

- Taxes - Obama will raise them. More taxes hurt everyone. You can scream tax the RICH all you want but more income taxes are bad for American Families.

- Captial Gains Taxes - Obama will raise them and the net result will be, Investors with a click of a mouse button will move their money to the Tokyo or Loudon markets. Investors go where they can make more money. Historically, EVER time Captial Gains were increased Federal Tax Revenue went down.

- Corporate Taxes - Obama will raise them. The US is already the #2 taxed industrialized nation only behind Japan. It's a Global economy and higher US corporate taxes make the US less competitive and will cost this nation jobs.

- Health Care - Please Americans, do some research on the Canadian system. Costs are 5 times they originally planned. Citizens in Canada wait years for needed surgery's and it's a fact Canadian citizens are classified to determine when you even get a surgery. NO, our system today is not great but do we want our Fed. Gov. running Healthcare. Can you say FEMA and Katrina.

- Iraq - let's face it. At the end of the day, Obama can't do anything different than McCain can do. We will pull out when we can no matter who's in office.

I'm voting "Green" but not the green you think. Which candidate will leave my family with the most Green in our pocket.

I'm not into movements and speeches because once elected if Obama's poliicies are implemented it will hurt American and American families. The speeches will no longer work after that!

One last thing. Check your paystub! Then consider all the other taxes you pay now - sales tax, propertay tax, state taxes and the list goes on.

You pay today upwards of 40% of you income in taxes. Any candidate who wants to raise that will not get my vote.

THANK GOD, OBAMA'S SUPPORT IN THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY IS WEAKENING
July 4, 2008: In a CNN/Opinion Research Corp. survey completed in early June before Senator Clinton ended her White House bid, 60 percent of Clinton backers polled said they planned on voting for Obama. In the latest poll, that number has dropped to 54 percent.

In early June, 22 percent of Clinton supporters polled said they would not vote at all if Obama were the party's nominee, now close to a third say they will stay home.

In another sign the wounds of the heated primary race have yet to heal, 43 percent of registered Democrats polled still say they would prefer Clinton to be the party's presidential nominee.

That number is significantly higher than it was in early June, when 35 percent of Democrats polled said they preferred Clinton to lead the party's presidential ticket.

More bullshit, more obfuscation, more distortion. None of Obama's real supporters think he is "perfect" or "a God"-- that is a lame lie conceived and perpetrated by the conservatives. We all know he is a politician, and our eyes are wide-open.

SO... what has Obama been up to, these last two months? Well, after securing the nomination by working hard to appeal to the liberal Democrats, he's transitioned to the general by moving toward the center. This is POLITICS 101; a phenomenon engaged in, and acknowledged by, every presidential candidate of the last fifty years. Yet Dog Catcher and his hysterical, hystrionic brethren would have you believe that Obama somehow revealed his "true colors" over night, or morphed into some lying monster. The proof? Well, all of those pesky facts they keep willfully distorting (read:LYING about) to support their creaky thesis.

And what of their own man, John McCain?

Has he been a pillar of consistency on issues like:
-abortion rights
-illegal immigration reform
-taxes
-offshore drilling
-support from the evangelical big-wigs?
-opposition to MLK day?
etc etc etc

No, the FACT is that he's reversed his positions far more often, and far more strikingly, than has Barack Obama. Yet Dog Catcher and his deceptive partners in lies would have you believe that any calibration on positions by Obama is akin to TREASON, backed by a RADICAL MUSLIM AGENDA.

They, like the Republicans themselves, are predicating their entire argument on the belief that if they lie often enough, without deviating from those lies despite being caught in them repeatedly, that most Americans will be stupid enough to believe them.

If Dog Catcher really wanted you thinking for yourself, would he continue to spam his cut-and-paste about the "radical connections" of Obama? Not at all. He's banking on your stupidity, and planning to wear down your resistance through hammering the lie home again and again and again.

Meanwhile, McCain is FAR more inconstant in his positions than Obama; McCain is FAR more beholden to big business; McCain is in bed with FAR more lobbyists (some quite literally) and this paragon of virtue has called his second wife a "c*nt" publicly, after divorcing his first wife.

But why should you vote for him? Because he represents WHITE, PATRIOTIC, AMERICA.

And this is the lie that keeps on giving, 200+ years later.....

Liberal SOP, lie, complain and blame. Talk about BS take a look in the mirror. Defend your candidate all you want but you not using facts. So now the "King Obama" can lie and be a regular politician and that's OK! If the sky was blue and Obama said it was't you'd defend him.

And as my post said, I NEVER felt "King Obama" was anything more than a politician. A good one, to be sure, but not perfect. Not inhuman. And not someone I agree with on every issue.

I have a brain, and follow the issues.

Why do you like John McCain?

Well, if they come out with a "Leave me alone, you lying, spamming, Asshole" version, let me know. I'd definitely pick that one up.....

still tired after your long run yesterday, Dog?

I must say, in all my time in chat rooms, I've NEVER seen someone come unglued so severely, or flail and peter out in such a ridiculous and embarrasing way.

You should all go check out Dog's antics yesterday in the "Right wing Attacks on Obama" thread. It's funny as hell!

One example: McCain changed his stand on offshore drilling because gas has become so expensive that it is ruining our economy. He is able to correctly change a previous stand if circumstances warrant it. That is the right thing to do.

On the other hand, Obama would stick with the "no drilling" mantra while we revert to a third-world country. Do you really think that's better?

Another example: McCain also modified his immigration rights stand once he realized how strongly U.S. citizens reacted and demanded border security before any citizenship path was defined for illegals. That was the right change to make, don't you think? On the other hand, Obama will probably ignre the majority of U.S. citizens and grant immediate citizenship to illegal aliens by executive order on his first day in office (trying to be the new Lincoln with his Emancipation proclamation). We already know he wants illegals to have drivers' licenses, and Obama has incorporated LaRaza talking points in his answers about illegal aliens.

I guess Obama finally figured out that U.S. voters now know troops cannot be pulled out of Iraq safely or sanely overnight, which is pretty much what he has promised.

The Democrats in the U.S. House and Senate campaigned on IMMEDIATE withdrawal from Iraq, then they got elected, Dems have the majority in both the House and Senate, and guess what? No troop withdrawal. They knew they were lying and wouldn't/couldn't/shouldn't do it, some of us knew they were lying, and now everyone knows they were lying - including Obama. Of course the "Surge" (which Dems fought tooth and nail and said wouldn't work) has been a great success in Iraq. Way to go, Dems!

Now that Obama thinks he just might get elected president he is backpeddling like crazy on Iraq. And this is who some of you want for president?

Typcial Liberal answer. Since you cannot address the fact that Obama definetly changed his policy on Iraq, you have no choice but to divert the issue to McCain.

Fact - Obama cannot do anything differenct in Iraq than McCain's original proposal. Obama knew this when he was running against Hillary but need to convince potential votes she was a war monger and he was going to immediately end the war! What a liar or should I say, politician! There are one in the same!
