How about you add new police and fire jobs first, then we'll talk about parks and trollies and other stuff we can't afford to keep up? Mayor Mick sounds a lot like Nancy Pelosi...pass it at any cost.

The MAPS for kids was great because kids need all the help they can in order to become productive adults. I am sorry that this MAPS program was drawn so badly that no moral compass can be used to help OKC find it's way out of the mess it is in still even after all these years. If you sincerely want to help OKC than draw a MAP's program where the children can go to school and have their college tuition paid for by the time they graduate high school. Perhaps they will in turn enrich all of OKLAHOMA with with a better education than they are receiving now. Please look at the bigger picture which is the children do not need a central park but a world class city working to fix the problems of today so they can concentrate on not having to fix the past generations unresolved problems. The Mayor or no one else is going to let our city go without good police and fire protection! "Come on guys"! let me give you a prospective from a 65 yr.old business in OKC. My granddad started our business. I remember the oil bust so well it hurts even today to think about it.We went from over 100 employees to 5 of us! that was in 1986. We went "hand to mouth' for years. im telling you the truth, when I say the MAPS projects saved OKC! Today we are back to about 35 employees. and I see a economy much like I did in the middle 1980s. MAPS is the way UP once again. It means JOBS, and a way to pick our selves up. One thing we learned back then, was that NOBODY was going to pick OKC up but ourselves!!

I just don't think with the economy the way it is right now we need to raise taxes yet again. And do we really need a new convention center to keep up when there is nothing going on? How about we add police and fire jobs and then talk about the park.

I sent in a "rant" to Kevin Ogle on the misleading facts of this article, what a suprise it didn't make it on air. A little too afraid of losing those advertising dollars controled by the Mayors new boss Akerman/McQueen? Well, objective journalism is dead in OKC! PS. Oh there is one of there ads , right now....

NO, NO, NO, NO.......as a senior citizen, i say no to any Maps that does not further the education of our children......Maps has shown nothing to seniors.....everything is based on the 25-40 crowd that is throwing their money into nothing but entertainment while their homes are being foreclosed.....the same crowd that in 3 more months will not be able to pay for this high priced and sweat induced taxed to all citizen.....the hard working baby boomers will not vote for this tax.....and the politicians that come out and manipulate public safety coverage is just another smoke up the arse maneuver.....Prather and the police unions that belly crawl for the all mighty dollar in the name of taxing citizens for the building, upkeep and security for these new plans sold their sole to the almighty dollar of our children and grandchildren......use the scales of balance, do citizens of any age or income need thise things when the state is going into insolvency? Mayor Mick Cornett guaranteed if MAPS 3 passes, new police and fire jobs would be added with the help of a SEPARATE use tax. Take note!( Separate use tax ) on top of maps3 if were not taxed enough as is. like we need a new convention center! whats wrong with the one we have? they forget to keep it in repair and clean.

There is more then enough money spent on Bricktown, time they spend money on the streets in the housing areas between nw 36th and nw 23rd west of May ave. and i don't mean on the uper northside of town.

To begin with Mayor Cornett;came out n stated that theunions were disgruntled abut not recieving a pay raise. That is not the issue right now we do not have enough police officers to cover the areas they are assigned to' The ones we do have are busy runing from call to call all day long. Our city infrastructure is crumbling we have a lot of city roads in bad need of repair and just continuing to patch the potholes is not getting the job done. Our sewer system is also in need of repair as well' The city complains about having to pay over time to city firefighters because the city will not hire additional firefighters; as I understand overtime is mandatory. The city ca'nt have it both ways. Let's work together and fix what we have before we expand and stetch the resources that we have even further. This is not about a pay raise it's about doing what is right.

I wish I had 2 hours to refute every point you have all written because they are all incorrect!!! Please educate yourselves before you vote. If after learning the truth you still feel the need to vote "no" then that's your choice but at least know the truth. Try going to one of the almost nightly educational presentations by the chamber and ask your questions. Voting on something based on web posts that hold 0% fact is pure stupidity!!!

Well everyones on board now with the plan since they decided to let the police and fire Dept. in on it but I know someone had to twist Cornetts arm. Why they didnt include them in the first place is a wonder to me but you see how shady dealing go. They knew this wasnt going to pass unless they did. To me thats just shameful !! shame shame shame !!! Thats just like buying votes !! so now their families will vote it for sure pure shameful !!!

None of the Maps 3 tax has been ear marked for anything. It wasn't until Police and Fire came out against the tax and pointed out the are no additional police, fire or public works in the tax to protect and maintain the new projects that now suddenly the Mayor has found money in the "use" tax to get 27 officers. I don't think the Mayor is being truthful about any of this. The city manager has already told the department heads to cut their budget by 2 percent which will happen after the vote. MY VOTE IS NO MORE TAX.

Police and Fire are both against this Maps. Prater has sold out to empty promises. Where are the 200+ additional officers the city's own independent study says we need??? The Mayor has the cart in front of the cart.

This is utterly rediculous. MORE Maps taxes arent enough for Mick Cornett? At taxpayers expense, he is going to buy the Police and Fire Departments Maps votes with ANOTHER use tax? Mick Cornett needs to get out of public office and get back to doing what he knows...sports and ONLY sports.

We have done alot to revitalize our downtown, with bricktown and the canal. I think it's time we worry about the rest of OKC. We have residential roads that are potholed and being temporary filled all the time. We also have alot of infrastructure that needs to be taken care of, that's not downtown. What about Taft stadium? I mean there is a long list, but and I do support our local police and fire departments, they need money, but this is not in MAPS 3, and maybe we should vote on a seperate tax to help fund these departments. Let's help ALL of the Oklahoma City area, not just downtown.

They will say and do ANYTHING to get their hands on our money. After asking our input, we've been ignored so their pet projects get funded. White water rapids on the Oklahoma River? A nice big new front yard for Devon Energy's Tower? A new convention center? I'm really tired of coughing up more and more taxes so the few can get richer and richer.... in my opinion, MAPS THE END was diverting tax dollars to Clayton Bennett so he could big dog it with an NBA team on our dime. NO MORE. VOTE NO!!!!!!!!!!

The new Firefighters the Mayor is offering (Verbaly, not on paper) is 10. Just 10. OCFD has 51 less firefighters now then in 1989, over 20 years ago. OCFD however provides many more services than 20 years ago and respondes to about 50% more incidents. City council also wants a 2% mid year budget cut (now) with possibly 3% in July of 0-10.If the Maps 1&2 were so overly successful why is the ford center about $13mill short of meeting NBA specs?
