Poor Richard! This comment will probably be your first thought after you leave this life. Just as the Muslim men who flew the planes into the WTC on 9/11, they flew into those buildings thinking they were going to Paradise but somewhere between the time the plane entered the building and when it exited the other side, their philosophy was certainly changed. I wish they could tell you what they believe now!! Whether you believe in God or not, He believes in you. I will pray for you.

Marge, it must be nice being the mouthpiece for the most powerful entity in the universe. I stand in awe of your gift of being the only person to have a direct link to God. You know so much more than everyone else on earth. You are truly privileged.

Marge, I am behind you. Keep up the good fight. It may be hard to prove, but it will also be hard to disprove. I personally believe in air.... don't need to see it. There are pleanty of things we all believe in that we cannot see. I guess if you feel uncomfortable in others beliefs you have to criticise?

Wow! What responses! I want to address those who have responded to my original post. Let me preface my replies with the fact that I, for 20 years, was a born-again, washed in the blood Christian.

Babs - My family is quite poor, and they are fundamental Christians, so no. My like-minded friends and I however would be more than happy to.

Thomas - I'm not quite sure what you mean by "there is no Richard", but I want you to know that just because you don't believe me in me doesn't mean I don't believe in you.

Somn and Keith - Thanks for the clear, logical thoughts.

Marge - Unlike the men who flew planes into those buildings who worship the exact same god you do (albeit under a different set of circumstances)I don't have any reason to think I will be doing anything after I'm dead. I will simply be dead. There is no god, no heaven, and certainly no hell. Jesus won't ever be back to get you, so get over it and enjoy your life while you still have it.

Our forefathers would be sick to know the amount of religious content currently passing through the hands of legislators. I'll end with a quote from James Madison, a man to whom we all owe so much. "And I have no doubt that every new example will succeed, as every past one has done, in shewing that religion and Government will both exist in greater purity, the less they are mixed together"

I'm so happy for you and all your fellow Christians that you got your way it just get's me all choked up. I know your all so happy and it makes me smile. I understand it will paid for with private funding so that's OK by me. Now I feel safe and happy and I'm sure the citizens of OKC are feeling pretty secure too. Now I'm going to go consider that adultry part. Sounds tempting.

According to the U.S. Supreme Court it is legal to post the Ten Commandments on public property:

BTW: Adultery IS grounds for divorce; hence it is a violation of the law - the Ten & the State's.

Why couldn't we allocate a given area. 1st come 1st serve, to commerate various private funded inspirational memorials on goverment property. A Hall of Inspiration?!

I said it was tempting. For a near 80 year old widow woman what's a broken commandment possibly mean? You take yourself way too seriously go find something that makes you happy.

I could make a legal case that would accuse anyone who opposes putting the Ten Commandments on state property guilty of "anti-semitism", because the Ten Commandments are a Jewish document given to Moses.

For Christians to be consistent, they would need to ask for only Two Commandments to be posted on state property, the ones Jesus mentioned, "You shall love the Lord your God with your whole heart, soul, mind and strength. You shall love your neighbor as you love yourself." Those are shorter and easier to remember.
