A tragic story, but the gentleman was able to get out of the enferno with his life....another good reason to have a free standing garage...

This is so sad, it couldn't have happened to a nicer guy.

I too am very happy to hear this gentleman escaped this tragety with minimum harm. the exstent of damage could have been less if the house was equipted with a home sprinkler system. The home builders Assoc. is fighting to not have to do this in new homes but come on people use your common sense.Home sprinklers add that much more protection till the fire depatment gets there. the Insurance company can replace the house and contents but what about all the sentimental items lost things that aren't replacealbe like the saying goes "an ounce of prevention isn't worth a pound of flesh"

Wait until you get a sprinkler head to go off by accident with no fire and see how much damage they can do.

I am happy Everett got out of his home safely. I feel badly for him in how hard he's taking this. May Everett be blessed with all the support he needs.

I am so sorry to read of your loss. My thoughts are with you at this difficult time. I can not imagine how difficult it must be to have lost all of youyr loving possessions. May you find comfort.

In 30+ years on the job, I can for fact that the dollar loss between water damages from accidental sprinkler activations is much much less than that of fire damage.

PLUS not to mention the reduction in injuries and fatalities because of sprinklers. Hmmmm, think someone may be with a builders association that opposed sprinkler bills ???
