We locals have been told that it will be closed from south of the entrance to Keystone State Park for 8-10 months. Only access to the park, dam or 4 wheeler play area is from 64 or old Hwy 51 past Swift Park. Please remember this, as this effects the emergency responders for that area.

This bridge is so bad that when I travel over it, all I can think of is the time when I was a kid and got poked in the eye with a sharp stick.

Maybe they should have repaved old hwy 51 first and not just fill in holes with ashpalt. Still don't see how this will stimulate the economy though, in fact Keystone State Park will be hurt from it. Old 51 will be full of accidents and damaged boats and trailers....

Yeah, they did a "play-doh" patching job on Old 51, it is stil very narrow & rough, imagine taking a fire truck or ambulance down that, much less taking a patient in the ambulance back out that way! And a minimally marked, very bad RR crossing with little or no view of oncoming trains at the angle they come thru there. Guess once again the people making the decisions are the ones in an office somewhere, not the ones living it & driving it.

i'm glad they are doing this, but this is going to kill the Pier 51 marina traffic from the mannford direction. All those people in mannford that leave their boats at P51 will be driving 25 miles instead of 5 to hit the lake. So most of them will pull the boats out and goto another marina. And all of us that commute to tulsa, will be adding time to the trip. The worst part of this is the time frame. They say 8 months to complete this project, which is quite crazy. They just completed rebuilt a bridge off 244 to 75 north in tulsa in just a few months. Why are we dragging this out 8 months?

To get there from Mannford, you can go to 193 W Ave, just across the Hwy 51 from Flying ~G~ Ranch, go north to Old Hwy 51 & back west. This will bring you out between the south end of the Keystone Dam & The entrance to Keystone State Park. Yes, it is a rough, narrow county road, but if you take it slow & easy, it saves the miles.....especially with the gas prices the way they are.

it sucks to have to go into sand springs to get to work. it adds about 15 more mins to my drive. it looks like they could of completed HWY 51 going west so it would not be so rough. But maybe they will redo the off ramps too! Probably not!
