For 5 generations our family have traveled to Pine River for vacations. The store has changed names yet remained in the same location which made shopping in Pine River a truly small town one-stop experience. Having a grocery store actually in the main business district has been essential to the well being of the town. We had anticipated moving here to retire, having everything within walking distance. After many years of keeping this dream alive, we are saddened to have to now look elsewhere.
The closing of Carl's was not not for the benefit of the people of Pine River, but rather to cater to the highway traffic.
Shame on you Pine River to go for the money over providing for your own people!
