It's Japan vs. Brazil in the Hair-Straightening Wars

Full story: Popsugar.com

I've never seen anything take off like this as far as relaxing hair. That's because she goes in for Japanese thermal conditioning, a treatment that leaves hair straight for months. via Popsugar.com

There is only .02% formaldehyde in our brazilian straightening product we use. We are also very well ventelated. Formalehydeis usedin everyday household products also.

Hi even 2% formaldehyde is bad because it is heated and turned into a gas and with repeated use through out the day the air in your salon will contain more than 2% formaldehde. Do you really want to risk your health and your clients health?

Thanks for you time.

We have been approached by all types of product manufacturers, all claiming to have a low "Formyl or Formaldehyde", since the Brazilian Hair Straightening craze hit NYC.
It seems that they all have the next straightener that will out perform with or "without Formadyhyde".
It even seems that NYC magazine publications can't keep there uneducated noses out of it by trying to bad mouth a service that they know nothing about.
Yet these Authors themselves have undergone even more dangerous procedures under a knife to their faces, hips and the like, but feel the need to bash this process.
We have a private, well ventilated room dedicated for this service, and have seen amazing results to our clients hair texture, while making a great profit.
In my opinion, the is only one Brazilian Keratin Treatment, and Marcia Texera has proven to be the only one we can trust for consistent, healthy looking straight hair.
Thanks for a great product, that can be a money maker in the salon, that’s even easier to use.

OK PEOPLE HERES THE FACTS,REJUVENOL IS THE COMPANY THAT CONTAINS THE FORMALDEHYDE. THE COPPOLA DOES NOT.I HAVE PERSONALLY COMPLETED 287 COPPOLA KERATIN TREATMENTS.AND ABOUT 30 OF THE REJUVENOL.HERES WHAT HAPPENS THE COPPOLA TREATMENT LASTS 2 TO 5 MONTHS ON Chemically-treated Hair. IF YOU HAVE VIRGIN HAIR MEANING NEVER BEEN COLORED OR RELAXED, NOT INCLUDING SEMI PERM COLOR THE TREATMENT WILL LAST ONLY 6 TO 8 WEEKS.NOW IF YOU USE A SHAMPOO AND CONDITIONER THAT CONTAINS AND SODIUM CHLORIDE ,THE ENTIRE TREATMENT WILL HAVE BEEN REMOVED FROM THE CUTICLE OF THE HAIR .SO ITS MY RECOMENDATION TO USE THE SAP MOSS SHAMPOO AND CONDITIONER FROM AVEDA ITS THE ONLY ONE ON THE MARKET TO SUSTAIN THE TREATMENT TO MATURITY.NOW THE REJUVENOL WILL MAKE THE HAIR STRAIGHTER THAN THE COPPOLA BUT THE NEGATIVE OF THE TREATMENT IS THAT YOU WILL GROW DEPENDANT TO IT DUE TO THEW FACT THAT IN 4 MONTHS OFTER THE TREATMENT WAS SERVICED YOU WILL NOTICE THE HAIR IS MUCH MORE FRIZZIER AND DAMAGED THAN ANYTHIME BEFORE WHICH WILL MAKE YOU DEPENDANT ON THE SERVICE.SO IF YOU LOOKING FOR SMOOTH FRIZZFREE PERMANANT HAIR USE THE BIO IONIC STRAIGHTENER ,ITS THE AMERICAN VERSION OF THE JAPANESE STRAIGHTENER.THEY INVENTED IT AND WE PERFECTED IT.

Actually YOU have it all wrong. All of the treatments have a form of aldehydes!

I have just had the Brazillian Straightener and it worked very well. I have fine hair that is color treated and gets frizzy in any humidity. The brazillian has smoothed and straightened my hair. It looks and feels better. I just went to Florida for 5 days with awful humidity and it looks great. One thing I would like to have is information on the best shampoo for this process to help make it last.

it sounds like either your stylist didn't inform you or you didn't do your homework. all of the information points out that you must use a sulfate and chloride free shampoo. finness has both.

Antonio, I wear my hair straight, not curly. I have beautiful curls but they get a little frizzy in summer. Stylists tell me if I get this that it will not ruin my natural curl. Is this true? Thank you

Does the Bio Ionic have formaldehyde in it and is it harmful?

I have had Bio Ionic done 2x/year for about 3 years and love the results. I am thinking of switching to Keratin Complex as it is supposed to be better for the hair and less expensive.

Any thoughts?
