News of sex sting affects park-goers

This tentativeness on behalf of the park visitors will blow over. Publishing those names in the paper may have gone a long way to stopping this activity.

Rocky Ridge is a gem of a park. The public shouldn't be shy about using it.

If you notice single men sitting in cars in the parking lot, call the police and have themn check it out.

I do think people are over-reacting. Yes it is disappointing to hear that this happened and I am glad they busted so many people....but remember they were NOT raping people....ummm so I think you are safe!

You have GOT to be kidding me. I frequently walk at Rocky Ridge and have never seen any "suspicious activity." Typical York County redneck thinking...better not say hi or smile at anyone lest he be *gasp* gay! Do Not Be said it all. Heed it. And do not avoid saying Hello to those walking nearby but do accompany the kids to the bathroom, which should be done anyway.

I don't think people have anything to fear ... they have been walking around in that park for years and apparently never noticed any of this activity.

Personally, I think this has been made a bigger deal than what it should be ... meaning I don't think this would get the same amount of publicity if it were heterosexual individuals partaking in a similar activity.

I have been using the parks to run and ride bikes for almost 20 years and I have never seen "the act" taking place. And I hit most of the remote area of all the parks. I have seen people hanging out that didn't always seem like they were there to enjoy nature but who am I to judge. If you let them scare you out of our parks then they have won the battle. This stuff is not happening out in the open.

I find this story compelling in the fact that the average age of these men is 56 years old. This evidence speaks to the nature of this corrupting behavior. Deviant sexual behavior, practiced in the dark, by those who were once ashamed of their corruption is now practiced in public areas. The practice of this behavior reveals the truths that are found in the Bible. These men have rejected the call of God in their lives and God has given them over to the lusts which destroy them. As men seek to satisfy the lusts of their flesh, overtime, these men are driven to find more deviant ways to experience a new and satisfying act. Only Jesus can restore such a fallen man or woman. Only Jesus can fill a life that has destroyed itself.

The sad thing here is that it not only perpetuates the stereotype of homosexual men as sexual predators but it proves it. No wonder there is such distain for this group. I have lived a lot of places and I have never found the views on gay people much differant here than anywhere else. I would offer the recent election in Maine as proof of that.

If I were a guy, I would stay clear of that park
for a while until this whole thing "blows over".
I wouldn't be so much concerned about the men
going there to hook up as the undercover cops
who might be a little to anxious to make an
arrest. Just being a man there by yourself
could make you a target by cops, and don't tell me that doesn't happen in other crimes as well.

Dorothy, oh really? Please point me to any indication that predatory behavior was taking place because I'm not quite sure you know what that word means. I agree with hmm; this would be a non-issue if it were heterosexual sex.
