Judged: 3 2 it's typical Left Wing media tripe to make it seem reasonable to kill 8 White men since the killer thought they were racist. You see racism is so abhorrent in their eyes that even if it was a tragedy the reasoning behind it was just. The mainstream media would never bother with a sympathetic article about the killer if he were White and killed 8 Black men or 8 individuals of any race for that matter. Somehow they are willing to give reasoning for the death of Whites as if they had it coming for some unknown reason. |

Judged: 3 3 1 play the race card. he could have been white and the situation would be the same: workplace discrimination induces employee violence. this is a well studied topic. his reasons have nothing to do with being black, except for the hatred filled discrimination against him. his actions were understandable, if still regrettable. to quote the article: "Brocuglio's sister, Toni, said Thornton would come home and say co-workers called him racial slurs. He was also upset by comments made by passers-by about the interracial couple, she said. "He just didn't understand why people had so much hatred in their lives," Toni Brocuglio said." http://eqwithdenise.wordpress.com/2009/09/19/... to quote: "What are the risk factors? The FBI tells us that workplace bullying is a high risk factor for workplace violence. So does a great amount of psychological research and occupational research and statistics. We know from OD research that emotional intelligence can be developed and improved and that combinations of improved emotional intelligence, sound conflict resolution skills, high quality diversity training, and workplace cultures that mandate respectful interactions regardless of conflict are protective factors against workplace violence. So, why aren’t all workplaces doing all they can to implement protective factors and prevent risk factors? We’ll get to that soon. First, an important look at the underlying employee experiences that are not as invisible as they seem if workplaces look for them. Workplaces can only competently address risk factors for workplace violence if they understand how to recognize them. And they can only recognize all of them if they actively look for them. Workplace violence is preceded by anger, whether in our understanding of the situation that anger seems rational to us or not. We do have a responsibility to understand those workplace situations that produce anger in employees, even if in understanding those situations, we are forced to address uncomfortable realities about the workplace including the existence of various dysfunctions such as disparate treatment, cronyism, needs for diversity training, or needs for a complete overhaul of workplace culture. We must be willing to see these things and address them with intellectual and emotional honesty and integrity. We also must be willing to intervene." |

Judged: 1 1 Maybe you didn't notice this from the article - "Brocuglio, who said she dated Thornton until eight years ago..." It sounds to me like the Brocuglio sisters were talking about 8 year old discrimination at a different company. "Thornton was hired for a warehouse job at Hartford Distributors about two years ago and was later promoted to driver." So let's see - 8 years ago he had some racist crap happen to him at a different company, two years ago he got a job at Hartford Distributors, sometime in that 2 years he was PROMOTED (Is getting a promotion discrimination?), then he stole stuff, was caught on tape and forced to resign then he murdered INNOCENT people. IF he had not stolen from the company, and if he had documented and reported the harassment through official channels I'd have sympathy for him - IF he hadn't murdered innocent people! If he had evidence of racist acts at work then instead of being a dead man he might have gotten some alleged racists fired and perhaps a financial settlement - IF what the current girlfriend and her mom say is true. The only thing that I am certain of in this case is that he was a mentally ill man who probably blamed everybody else for his problems, sure maybe he was the target of racist crap, but he should have been smart and sued some people instead of killing innocent people! He gets no sympathy from me, I hope there is a special place in Hell for him. |

Judged: 1 Liberals are ultimately to blame for this. They are responsible for forcing black people to assimilate to a white society. What black people really need tis to have their sovereignty restored. They need to have their own nation and government. I have no idea what it means to be a minority; and I don't want to know. Of course the Libs have a big plan to make white people the minority and to place "Latinos" in the majority controlling position in America. They refer to this as "social justice." But all sensible people know that liberalism is a mental illness, just like homosexuality. |

Judged: 1 read the article more closely. he said his current company was a racist place. that they treated him and other black employees bad there. understandable anger, poor choice of action. he experienced racism and it made his blood boil. anyone who has been systematically discriminated can understand his intense anger about it. anger which cannot be channeled in a constructive way, produces violence. it's just like the postal employees who go postal: http://www.trutv.com/library/crime/notorious_... to quote: "Over the last few decades, the United States Postal Services (USPS) has suffered a poor reputation from incidents of workplace violence and homicide. A national study was ordered by the Postal Service in the hopes of dispelling occupational fears and directly challenging the purported misconception that postal workers are under greater threat than those who work at other occupations. According to an article by Bob Dart titled Study Calls Go Postal Stereotype Mere Myth, research showed that the USPS employees are no more likely to go postal or commit homicide than other American workers. Washington Post staff writer Cathy Newman writes in Going Postal? that only 16 of 6,719 workplace homicides were attributed to postal employees between 1992 to 1998. The article quoted Jerry Rubenstein, a psychologist at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry, who stated that the public nature of the job led to postal worker homicides being more highly publicized, thus creating a distorted picture of postal workers propensity to commit violence. Intriguingly, a large number of postal employees have embraced this myth, believing that they are at higher risk of dying on the job than others. In fact, Dart claims that homicide rates in the postal service were considerably lower than in other workplaces, with the retail trade having the highest incidence of occupational homicide. However, although the homicide rates were substantially lower when compared with other occupations, Newman stated that there was a higher risk of stress amongst postal employees, likely due to the drudging daily routine associated with the work. This fact only is a critical variable that could lead to an increase in disgruntled workers and possibly violent consequences." WORKPLACE HOMICIDE CROSSES RACIAL AND JOB BOUNDARIES. |

Judged: 1 1 read the article more closely. to quote: ""I know what pushed him over the edge was all the racial stuff that was happening at work," said his girlfriend, Kristi Hannah. Thornton, a black man, said as much in a chilling, four-minute 911 call. "You probably want to know the reason why I shot this place up," Thornton said in a recording released Thursday. "This place is a racist place. They're treating me bad over here. And treat all other black employees bad over here, too. So I took it to my own hands and handled the problem. I wish I could have got more of the people."" he said his current company was a racist place. that they treated him and other black employees bad there. understandable anger, poor choice of action. he experienced racism and it made his blood boil. anyone who has been systematically discriminated can understand his intense anger about it. anger which cannot be channeled in a constructive way, produces violence. it's just like the postal employees who go postal: http://www.trutv.com/library/crime/notorious_... to quote: "Over the last few decades, the United States Postal Services (USPS) has suffered a poor reputation from incidents of workplace violence and homicide. Same here in Michigan, the news wont even say a race if it is black or other non white race, let a white shop lift here it is all over the news, WHITES SHOPLIFT FROM LOCAL STORE,FILM AT 11.Two recent cases here, one where a group of black full grown men rod a lemonade stand run by three 9 year old white girls and beat on ones mother in front of them when she tryed to stop them, second is a a large group of blacks rob a old white guy that they knew was blind and beat him with his own cane, in both these cases nobody knew who the police were looking for till we saw them in court, but a white guy in Flint commits a crime on blacks it is all over the news " WHITE MAN PREYING ON SMALLER BLACK MEN " true stuff, they went as far as to say smaller black men, full grown men at that, and this is just one white guy, not in a pack of rabid devils robbing kids and beating blind old people. The news is really one sided, the media is racist! |

Judged: 1 1 The majority of my co workers at work are African/American and these people are pretty tight with each other their all out for their cause and that is the help the fellow brother succeed at what ever it is the brother is doing. Wether it be running for politcal office, cheating, involed in some sort of illegal activity or scandal, they always tend to stick up for the brother os sister, regardless just as long as they are black and getting away with what ever it is they do which is usually up to no good. White people no matter what will make racial comments at anyone that is not white, that is a common trait, other whites embrace the African/American community as if they were bred from the same mother. I think some white people find themselfs in a guilt factor, they are feeling quilty for what their ancesters atrocities against the black man and woman. In this case seems there was a happy working environment and we'll really never know the whole truth, as to maybe the assailant was under constant scrutiny may have drove him to become dishonest and way to get back at the company through thievery. White people tend to make up lies and they back each other up when they are dealing with another none white person, they'll gang up on you if you let them. To bad this had to happen but it will happen again the bottom line is to keep your eyes open and dont trust no one, even a mexican. |

Judged: 1 1 you obviously have an agenda. just because someone complains about racism that means he doesn't like white people and white society. more likely it means some whites didn't like him and they didn't like a black man in white society. you obviously have this whole thing backwards. and don't call me a Liberal, because i am not one. |
