We can all learn from our ancestors. Its interesting. You'll discover skeletons in the closet and things people are ashamed of and don't want to talk about. Just remember you are not responsible for other people or what they do. Most people would be ashamed and keep quiet about one of our skeletons, but I think its funny. Anyone who would be hurt is long dead now. My great-great aunt used to be a madam at the old Owens Hotel in Horse Cave that they recently tore down. I went and got a brick before they hauled everything off. Supposedly she was very good and made good money. She dressed all in black. I barely remember seeing her when I was very young and she was old and died shortly after. To me this is a funny story. Every family has people that do things sort of against the normal. Happy hunting. Cooter, Larkin Burnett was my gggrandfather. I would love to talk to you about the family history. We have not been in that area for about 10 years, went to visit Sand Cave and other areas. My grandmother, Kathryn Johnson, talked a lot about the Collins family & Floyd. Is there a way I can get in touch with you? Thanks!

Cooter, still hoping to get in touch with you. I have been working for the past couple of years on putting together the Burnett side. Not easy, especially the Collins prior to Leonidas - no records anywhere. Would love to talk with you & share information.

I can't tell you a lot but I'll do what I can. I do not know much at all about the Collins. The Hart Co. court house burned,(maybe by our family) and lots of records were lost. Some records are in Brownsville too. And then theres always Barren Co. Glasgow court house and the historical society. I know that Mammoth Cave has a lot of information but they do not like to share it.
I grew up in Cave City, married young and moved away. I had done basic research then had to stop to raise a family and work. I'm living here again, no place like home, but still adjusting so I've been busy. I haven't been able to "hunt" yet like I want to. I know the Burnetts came into KY from Viginia,(like most everyone else.) Did you know there is a Burnett castle and we all probably originated from there?
Set up an e-mail and we can exchange info. I'm afraid that you may already have most of what I have. I stay pretty busy but I promise I will get back to you.

It seem like everytime I goes somthing differnt happen. I saw about 5 orb out by the out house I could see the hold in side the orb was bright then they just went up in the air. One went over the truck. One time out car rock and the radio light came on and off. The bar light. Then one time it touch my hair rubbing it. We went inside and we hear someone walk front to the back of the church it is hunted.

We too go out there and things do happen, but the spirits reside there and they do not like all the people coming in and out of their church all the time and bothering them. When you keep posting things on here, that encourages other people to go out there drinking and making noise and bothering them. Pretty soon, the rangers will just stop letting everyone come because it is getting to be like grand central station out there. You need to stop telling everyone about it if you are a serious ghost hunter. People are dragging kids in there and teenagers are there with ouiji boards and it is attracting way too many people. It is not a tourist attraction. Have some respect for the dead and let them have some peace out there.

Roots in Cave will be held Nov. 13-15. Come join us if you are interested. There will be workshops and lots of sharing of old photos and visiting. Information should be in the newspapers soon as to specifics. I, too, am kin to Lark Burnett by marriage. His wife Della was married to Joseph Hunt first, when he died, she married Lark. I have may relatives buried at Mammoth Cave in different cemeteries. If you have kin that resided in the Park, please come join us. If you are just interested in the history, you will learn alot.

Hi-we go there a lot and take lots of pictures like this-inside and out. It is neat isn't it? There is a lot of activity that goes on there.I was fortunate enough to be there when a group was there filming with a priest and psychic there-it was very interesting. I can tell you this-the spirits that linger there do not like disrespect of the church or of them!

It is not a new hangout for teenagers and young adults. This is a church and people's families went to church here and are buried here. Please treat this church and cemetery with respect. This is NOT the place for children or ouiji boards at all! The serious ghost hunters have total respect for the church and the people that once lived here-we are serious about knowing more. Please know that this is not a game. This could have been your family-think of it that way!
