Hi my name is Leno Borg and l live in Melbourne Australia, l was born in Malta the Island that is.
I have been trying to get some info on Malta in the USA. Is there any Maltese people living in your town? Can anyone tell how it really got its name? Any conection between Malta Montana and the Malta the Island in the Med.

I lived in Malta for most of my life.... You asked about how Malta got its name. Years ago Malta's real name was Siding 54 I believe... Not sure if I have the number right but it was a siding anyway. It was a stop that the steam engines made to put on more water. Soon after that it became a town and they chose a name by spinning the globe and pointing a finger. It landed on the Island of Malta in the Mediterranean and that is how Malta Montana got its name.

That's so funny. A lot of my family lives in Malta, and I've always wondered about the name...

Sorry I cant help you but I live in Geraldine Montana. Dont know where they got the Malta from.

I think thats how they named a lot of towns along the hi-line.
