Number Of Wounded Troops In Afghanistan Increasing

Full story: news.yahoo.com

Far from winding down, the numbers of U.S. soldiers coming home wounded have continued to swell. The problem is especially acute among those fighting in Afghanistan, where nearly four times as many troops were injured in October as a year ago. Amputations, burns, brain injuries and shrapnel wounds proliferate in Afghanistan, due mostly to increasingly potent improvised bombs targeting U.S. forces. Snipers' bullets and mortar rounds also are to blame.

The injuries are horrendous! Why do we send our kids into such a meat grinder? It's not about USA safety!!! It's about a mess that Cheney got us into, and now pride of the right wing war-hawks that feel USA must win at everything.

USA pride at the price of our kids being torn apart, families destroyed, kids without Daddy ... we will pay the price for many decades.

It is time for Karzai to take control of his country. Propping up his government with the blood of OUR soldiers is WRONG. Afghans who support their government should stand up and fight for their country.

At least 1,800 troops were wounded in Afghanistan in the first 10 months of this year, about 40 percent of all the wounded U.S. troops in Afghanistan since the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. Nearly 1,000 of those injuries occurred in the last three months.

Spinal injuries account for one in six of the wounds treated in the Afghanistan battle theater, Shanks said. Of those injuries, about 15 percent involved motor or sensory changes such as a broken back or spinal cord injury

Daily Horoscope for December 19

Leo

A loved one is being rather tetchy today. It won't take much to get on their nerves, even if you think they're being grossly unfair about it. Try not to make the situation worse by being sarcastic or provocative. Instead, encourage them to tell you what's wrong but without raising their voice. Once you know what you've done to irritate them you can start to put it right.
