Is does matter if the kid is arrogant !- What happened to the word R-E-S-P-E-C-T - Would you kave done that when you were growing up? I think not. I'm not saying it's right to hit a child, but it also is not right for the child to push the teacher to that point. And, I agree. This is NOT the place to discuss it. 2Shea wrote: Really, does it matter if the kid is arrogant or not? In my opinion, no way! There should be steps that are taken before it comes to that... What if it was your child that was the victim? I think you might have a different outlook on the situation..

Well then I guess if this is not the place for this topix. It must be the place for other topixs, e.g., how our justice system is corrupt, Donovan's is over priced, Malone Village Police are horrible, Gateway housing Sex Predetors, Man shaking baby, a women beating her baby.. umm. I could go on.. So tell me why this category is any different from the rest? Because they are a educator and they are perfect? A little hypocritical don't you think??

I agree that some kids can push you over the edge.. However, this is not the case with this one.. Sorry!

Teachers seem to be a popular commodidy as of late, Suicide and assault (if factual) points to some serious deficency in our School System. In both cases these people need help and should not be in the classroom. Like I say if this is fact is our School Board letting us down by hireing low end of candidates for such a position. Also where does one go to either confirm or deny such events? From my standpoint there is to much secrecy in the running of the School System and all Politics in general.

Come on now someone is in the know and some should be upset here but all very quite. Why hell even the teachers themselves should come to the defense of fellow workers. But then again maybe they just don't want to lowere themselves to that level. Come om lets toss this around some more.

Knowing what I know, Put not about this teacher. When tachers don't rise for a fellow teacher it mean thay agree with school and maybe the teacher needs to move on. That is their way of saying something is not to say anything.

I think parents need to step back and give back discipline to teachers since many don't do it at home. just look at kids today no respect for themselves or adult. they need a good whack in the head from time to time and not from mommy or daddy who do nothing but coddle them.

who decides which kids would benefit from a good whack? How hard should you whack the kid? Should there be various powers of whacking for various levels of offense? Should there be such things are 2 or 3 what crimes? Can a teacher be the police and judge in processing and adminsitering the whack? should there be a designated whack officer in the schools? If so, waht are the criteria. Should the number of whacks also depend on the size of the whacker-would 4 whacks from a 4'10", 98# female teacher be the same as 1 whack from a 6'3", 235# buff male whacker? I'm sure there are other specifics that need to be worked out before we implement james' plan.

Like I said earlier no one with any smarts seems to want to react to either situation. These are acts of disregar for themselves and other students, my point is that we got stuck with the lower end of SCUM and why should we be stuck with them. Oh well someday it will come out in the open, until then I will not let it dye.Remember Columbo?????????

This circle jerk would be amusing if it wasn't so frigging pathetic. From what i understand, the kid had NO injury, No bruise, No nothing, Quite the brutal incident indeed! Seems like much ado about nothing by some hyperventilating parents who more likely than not passed on disciplining their apparently fragile little teenage angel while she was younger. And all of the brain power exhibited here is stunning. talk about killing a fly with a sledgehammer! Lets just sterilize the school and have these little china dolls taught by emotionless robots and computers. that will serve them well when they go out in the real world.

Who here over the age of 30 didn't receive a slap in the head occasionally while in school to straighten up? I received PLENTY. Sure scarred me for life. We have over-litigated our society and given immature teenagers and younger children too much say in this world. Children are not wise or emotionally stable enough to be equal shareholders in decision making that should be made by adults. How many parents do you know who are more of a buddy to their kid than a parent? I am all for protecting children from legitimate abuse, this is NOT it. When you need to use an attorney as your moral compass, your judgment is certainly lacking.

Oh Cheesehound, sounds like you know the story all to well... Whatever, your sentiments on this subject is, it isnot for you to make the call... This teacher had no right to put her hands on any student.. The matter should have been handled a little more differently.. If you are defending the matter, than either you are her or a very good friend of hers.. hmmm... Who has not gotten a slap or two when they were younger.. However, the law states now you are not allowed to hit a child.. just ask CPS or the law when you decide to hit a child.. It was not the parents that made this law.. Futhermore, I don't recall stating that this was abuse.. but assult, yes.. But as I stated previously.. if I was to hit my child and they went to school and told a teacher, do you not think they would call CPS and the law would take my kid?? Yes, I believe so.. So what is the difference from a parent and a teacher??? None that I can see... So the parent did the right thing, in my opinion.. she has been arrested, a order of protection has been issued, she has a court date.. and yet, she is still teaching.. What is that all about?? Strange

Its not assault, its harassment, which is less serious. Ive had that very scenerio played out, I slapped my kid and CPS showed up. You have a right to corporal punishmenr of your kid for discipline as long as you don't go too far, which usually means bruising or some form of torture. CPS shows up to make sure thats not the case and if youre not a flaming retard with a drug problem who shouldn't be in charge of a pet turtle you keep your kids. Did this kid get treated at a hospital or something? This whole thing sounds stupid.

Assault or harrasment... No one has the right hitting other peoples children... NO ONE! Question: If I was taking care of your child, would it be ok for me to discipline him/her with a crack in the head? Would you be ok with it? Would you continue to let me care for your child? Probably not.. I would not let anyone care for my child who uses that kind of discipline... that is my role as a parent... NOT ANYONE ELSE! Should we just shove everything under the rug and let anyone smack anyone because we just feel in is justified to get a smack or two? If I met you in a store and you said something I did not like and I slapped you, would that be ok too? Would you walk away and say I deserved it?? Probably not.. So why would any of this be ok? If you tell someone it is ok and here is a slap on the wrist.. In my opinion that gives you more power to do it again and again.. and next time it may not be a hit or a smack... it maybe two or three.. So, lets do that.. We will shove everything under the rug that is just not our problem and watch these kids grow to think anything that people do to them is entirely ok.. So they will bottle everything up and not tell anyone what has happened to them.. Good role models we would be... don't you think?
